This is the O2G thread. How threatened are non-ECNL teams/clubs to make yet another anti-ecnl thread?

It's 02, so it can be ECNL, Thorns or any division of club play, but let not re-hash the same tired arguments that have been debunked a thousand times. Focus people.

It's hard to focus when faced with the prospect of your DD being left behind on a mediocre Timbers Alliance team playing in 4th division OYSA. Gotta trash talk ECNL all day long so the good players don't leave.

It was a mess at older ages in the first year. Hopefully they turn it around.

At $1000 per month they better fix it!

Huh?! Which team was that? We are on the 02 thread so the younger age groups U14 is still a year off, but may be relevant for this immediate discussion. My dd played ECNL for FCP U14 and they did well. Going from the backwater stumptown league that Oregon plays in to ECNL is a jump, but that's how the girls will get better. It won't be from playing the same local teams that we have been playing against since U11.

U18 judging from the going off to college rant. They were awful. They did have a handful of very good players though.

Lets see they take how many kids at each age 25? So yeah pretty good chance my DD and DS are not making it. I am really torn up about it. But let's denote 10 threads to those 25 kids. And make sure we hijack every other thread, because ENCL is the best thing ever. (until something better comes along) Then you can jump on that bandwagon.

Probably. The OPL OYSA argument went on until the ECNL TA argument began. I am with yet another camp that will take every opportunity to speak up on a subject that has close meaning to my family. That is dilution of talent. ECNL would be great if there were only one team. As it is well.. look at the results. Thorns Academy is sort of out there. Strange actually as there is no good league for them to play in. Even so, it can be a viable opportunity especially for some of the youngers whose parents are not willing to spend the money on ECNL.

My hope for Oregon... get rid of two alternatives and settle on one truly high level path for those talented enough to participate.

I don't agree with you because half of what you are calling talent are exactly the players that will drag the whole team down and prevent the better players from playing soccer at the highest level. To me it would be better to have one Academy team staffed soley with the best. That might leave a lot of these girls out so it wouldn't be a popular option for all.
