What events have the Timbers done that are noteworthy? It's hard to get high rankings in Got Soccer if you stay in Oregon for your soccer.

Same thing at the 2001 age level. 70%+ of the talent is OYSA/Timbers.
Timbers are going all in on development.
In 2 weeks 90%+ of the 2001 talent will be in the ECNL.

I have a 2001 girl and Fc Portland finished in fourth in the OYSA and Thusc can't fight their way out of a paper bag. So those teams are not interesting and neither is spending thousands of dollars to travel to play league games and game beat. Neither of those teams have ever had any success out of state.
Right now 70% of the talent at 2001 is in OYSA and there will be more after tryouts.

That is a great excuse to tell your daughter. It sounds better than saying "Honey, I don't think you have the technical skills to play for ECNL."

At the 2001 age level it is very clear that 70% of the talent is in OYSA.
FC Portland played OYSA and finished 4th. Thusc is probably 8th or 9th place team in the state, if there was a unified league they would be facing relagation to the minors.
There are some high profile transfers rumored leaving the fc, wusc and thusc teams next year and I haven't heard anyone that wants to drop seven to ten grand to fly all over the country with these unsucessful teams and lose.

Development has been pretty close at OYSA and OPL teams up to now. OYSA has brought in better raw talent so they look a lot better results-wise.
You will do fine in either. OYSA teams will win a lot more. ecnl teams will lose a lot more and it will cost more. Development will be pretty close either way.
