For sure...it's too bad either team can't be in the OPL this fall.

Valencia propaganda back in action i see. Let's see...they were 1st at GU-11 OPL premier in 2010 and 4th at GU-12 in OPL premier in 2011. Yet the old coach and team manager said they had to leave their former club (FCSC) because they were not sufficiently being challenged and wanted better competition like that found in the RCL.

Today the team would be lucky to crack the fall 2012 top 5 at OPL GU-13 given their coaching dysfunction, toxic parents and weak bench...
And yet in the recent LO Cup, Valencia was 4-0 against OR, which included 2 of the 3 teams a previous poster named as favorites to win the league.

I'd bet the OREGON Premier League didn't allow the Timbers and Valencia in the Premier Division because it would be too embarrassing if two WASHINGTON teams finished 1-2.

Then you'd be wrong. They also kept some WAFC and CFC teams out of premier. The OPL had set rules and they followed them. It would not have been fair to kick a team or two out of premier who had earned their spot.

It could not have hurt to expand the premier division to include the teams. The GU11 Premier Division last year had 12 teams.

U11 has more teams because there is no objective criterium to qualify during U10. The premier divisions are based on a 14 game schedule, play every team twice, there is no good way to do that unless there are 8 teams (or 15 and play every team once).

If BSC or WT Copa could have been convinced to play another year in Division 1 (this was tried) then Vancouver would have gotten a berth. Valencia came in 4th place last Fall, their dominance from U10 had been on a steady decline. For them to claim the LO Cup results indicate a return to prominence is just pure fantasy.

Oregon Rush will be much improved this year and lobbied to remain in premier. Their travel will be brutal again this Fall.

now does that sound like an underdog talking? sadly the girls still on the team have to live with poor decisions made by the egos of old coaches, team managers and parents. stay tuned as their season progresses. predicting a blow-out before then end of the fall because they aren't being challenged enough by their competition. they will then petition MLS to take the timbers spot.

I'm not affiliated with the Valencia team in any way but I hope they surprise us all.
It only makes the league better etc.
I have always had a soft spot for the underdog and I hope they prove popular convention wrong!
I am not affiliated with Valencia in any way either and I think they are a top half premier team right now. In any case, they would make the Premier Division better. It's obvious. OPL Teams should want that.

I am not affiliated with Valencia. Valencia belongs in the Premier Division and they would likely finish top half. Their results on the field back what I say. I don't care about their last years coach, and I am guessing their parents are not any different than the rest. The people that sound ridiculous are the ones that slam them.

So you aren't an advocate of folks having to live with the consequences of their own decisions and actually adhere to reasonable rules? nice...bet your kids are wonderful...

I agree, they knew going in to this that new teams have to start in Division 1. They decided to leave and forfeit their spot in NWCL and knew that they would be playing Division 1 if they played in the OPL this fall. If someone comes on here and claims that they didn't know then shame on them for not checking it out before making the decision to leave. If it was that bad at FCSC that they were willing to give up Premier and NWCL then so be it but don't whine about the OPL not bending the rules for them just because they are a good team. I don't think anyone would argue that they are not as strong as the top 4 OPL premier teams but that is not the point. Why adjust the entire process for this one team that made a decision to leave knowing the consequences? Should WSM or BSC have given their spot up for this team? Heck no, they earned it by finishing 1 and 2 in Division 1 last year. Would the 3rd place Division 1 team or the two from Premier last year that finished 7th and 8th been happy had this team been allowed to basically jump past them and taken a spot in Premier? I think we all know the answer, play in Division 1 this fall and move on from there.

Yes they should give up their promotion.

Valencia clearly showed that they are a better team than THUSC, Eugene, Lake Oswego, Bend, and probably FC Portland if they weren't so dodgy playing weak teams and avoiding everyone etc.

I think the coaches on Bridlemile or WSM would be the first to tell you that they couldn't duplicate what Valencia did to those teams this summer. So instead, now you have a team that will for sure lock up a promotion spot in D1 by destroying teams instead of a team that actually belongs with that competition.

Think about it. Angela has her head so far up her #@#@ that she and clearly alot of people aren't seeing that is SHOULD be about the kids. And developmentally speaking, Premier kids would fare better with Valencia, while 1st division with BSC or WSM.

Its ok though, dig your heals in and continue to do what everyone expects you do to, think about yourself not the kids.

Advocate for the kids in the league not the parents on one team.

When Valencia rolls 10-0 on these teams in 1st division think about the kids. When WSM or BSC can't win a game in premier think about the kids. When THUSC, EUGENE and anyone in NW complains how bad Oregon girls soccer is and how weak the OPL is.......think about the kids. When it comes time to decide to fire Angela....think about the kids.

Its not rocket science, yet you seem to think denying them only effects ONE team.

What a joke of a league and you wonder why everyone thinks OPL girls soccer is a joke.

There are a few teams in DI that would not get rolled by Premier.
