    1 Jesuit

    3 Westview
    4 N Medford
    5 Thurston
    6 Lincoln
    7 Grant
    8 Tualitin
    9 Barlow
    10 S Salem

In the end, Tualatin will move up top 5, as well as S. Salem. Lincoln and Grant I have a question mark next to, mainly because Grant only beat Redmond 3-1, and Lincoln tied Woodburn.

    top 10:

    1. Jesuit
    2. Westview
    3. Sunset
    4. Tualatin
    5. S. Salem
    6. Thurston
    7. N. Medford
    8. Grant
    9. Clackamas (lost to Westview and S. Salem by 1 only)
    10. Lincoln

The only change I would make would be to move Tualatin up. There will be those that argue strength of schedule of course, but I think Tualatin would easily be one of the top 3 in Metro if they were part of it.

ditto. dont let their weaker conference fool ya. The team is (for the most part) the other half of the Jesuit (THUSC Ireland) team. Some might even say they are the stronger half. With their talent and depth from the bench they are a top 4 in the state.

Lincoln at Grant today should tell us something about those two teams.

I definitely agree with your top 5 but am curious why you would place Westview ahead of Sunset? Was it because they lost Jesuit and Westview tied them? I watched all three games (JHS vs SHS, JHS vs WHS, WHS vs SHS) and I would say Sunset gave Jesuit a tougher time than Westview. Also would like to hear your rational for putting Tualatin ahead on S. Salem. Not being combative I am just curious if I missed something. Thanks.

                Metro Girls - Southridge 2 Westview 1

Upset tonight. Southridge lead 2-0 until wild score by Westview with 3min less to go. Who would guess.

                Other scores?

Good job Southridge! They seem to be gaining momentum.

I gave Westview the nod due to the fact they tied JHS, while Sunset lost to them. But now that Westview lost, that changes everything. also S. Salem has Whitney and a few other good club players. Tualatin has more weapons and are better balanced. That's why S.Salem has been very inconsistent, losing to JHS and WHS and beating an average Clackamas team 2-1. There recent wins are against very below average teams, but they are taking care of business, beating teams that they should.

You are exactly right, I didn't calculate for inconsistencies, but upon further inspection it makes sense. And indeed, the Westview loss will toss a monkey wrench into the whole picture.

                        Thanks.

This whole post points out a glaring issue. The games being cited against South Salem were all pre-season non-conference games. (obviously otherwise the teams wouldn't meet until playoffs) How realistic a measuring stick is this? Most coaches will use preseason to move kids into less comfortable positions, experiment with different lineups, and evaluate new players to the group.

I suspect in a playoff situation these games would take on a very different character.

All we can do is wait and see.

We were told at the beginning of last year that the "Preseason" games would now count in overall standings, not just league games as opposed to previous years. So, any adjustments in lineups, position and the like have to be made on games that count instead of preseason. Any idea why that rule came about?

With that reasoning then you would expect that the opponents of South Salem did the same thing. That would neutralize the excuse.

The more I watch the Metro League the more competetive I believe it to be. From top to bottom all the teams seem capable of knocking one another off on the right night. For example, Jesuits matches have been close recently because of how well their opponents have been playing not because "U of J" has faltered. I think this tough league play will prepare all 6 well for at least 1st Round State Playoff wins, at home or away. Can any other conference make that claim?
