Jesuit isn't playing their starters and their best players, could be one reason.

Kudos
Kudos to the Junction City and Sisters HS coaches and athletic departments (and other schools, I'm sure) for moving their game up so all the girls could bus up to watch US/Canada. Makes for a long day, but what a great experience for the girls. That's what memories are made of!

Having seen only one of the Jesuit games a more appropriate comment might be that they played the entire roster, not sure that will be the case once the metro league games start.

Got the opportunity to watch the SHS vs JHS game. Very evenly match teams. Both have great defenses. Game was more physical than I had anticipated. I will give JHS the advantage in possession and shots but I need to applaud the SHS keeper for stopping a PK in the first half. JHS nipped one in just over the outstretched gloves of the goalie late in the second half for the win. IMHO these two teams will meet again, not just in league, in post season play.
Nice job to both teams.
Side note: Is it now policy to only have 2 officials covering the games? I thought standard was 3 but the last couple HS games I've been at only had 2.

* So those reading this get this.
We have run off referees day in/day out from Rec and Club soccer, so only a few make it this far.
So, there may have been no one able or willing to work last night. Remember this the next time.

The PK was a tough call- could've called it or not. Great save by the keeper. VERY disappointed by the SHS parent who bellowed out just as the JHS kicker took the shot though. How unsportsmenlike. You know who you were. Shameful.

I was at the other end of field and don't recall anyone yelling anything. Maybe I was out of ear shot.

I thought both teams played a pretty good soccer game before they headed to Portland as well :)

The Oregon soccer community needs to start treating the development of officials with as much seriousness as they do the development of players. Until that time comes expect mediocrity and games decided NOT by the efforts of the players but the bad decisions of the officials. I was at game last night where the winning team got not one but two PK's from fouls in the box the second of which wouldn't have been called in a rec league.
Good officials are rarely the conversation after the game and I look forward to the day where even the losing teams are talking about missed shots ratther than missed calls!
