If I remember correctly isn't this the first year that kids can choice into schools? I think that may help out the LO schools as well as Tualatin (that's if they need it). Jesuit may not get all the best players anymore.

New transfer rule says that if they are a freshman they can play sports right away. If Sophomore or older they must sit out a year. But, if they move to a different district there are no restrictions.

And would it be considered "transferring" if a kid hasn't even begun his/her freshman year yet?
My understanding of Beaverton School District is, and I can be wrong, that you put in an "administrative request" to attend a different school than what you are zoned for. A lot of people do it, and not just for sports. In fact a lot of people who do it have nothing to do with sports.
On the flip side. I have a question regarding any new rules (because I'm curious).
If the public school system must adhere to stricter rules set by OSAA, do the private schools, too? I'm not knocking the private high schools but part of the obvious animosity is coming from the fact that they are allowed to operate outside of the rules and guidelines because they are not public schools but yet we are required to compete against them in our league. Without the same restrictions, no matter how it's spun, it results in a situation of unfair advantage. So it's simple, are these rules state wide, regardless of league, school, private or public?

The rule is because the transfer is suppose to be for academic reasons, not athletic and was suppose to help the students/parents who felt that their school was not what they wanted academically. Some districts allowed transfers and some not. If you were approved via this new "law" then I believe you have to wait if you are a sophomore or older. This is not in-district transfers.

I think they can play right away as long as the district approves:

Westview didn't even rank on your top 10? Hm.
Well, okay. I'd have to agree that while several of the younger players on the team last year thought a little too highly of their own "skills" and the reality is that they struggled a bit when the majority of the team on the field wasn't seniors, you have to remember that this is almost always the way of things. Out with the old, in with the new. The new seniors and juniors will find their place and the incoming freshman and girls moving up from JV will be hungry to prove themselves. It's the way of things. Always has been, always will be.
Even when it's rough around the edges in the beginning, Westview has strength in numbers and draws from a fairly large group of talented girls that (almost all) play club.
Don't count them out.
They'll be one of the top teams in the Metro League, as always.
They'll make it to the play-offs.
They'll advance to at least the quarter finals, imo.
I'm not sure where the other teams stand but Westview will probably be in the top 4-6 teams in the state.
As for Tualitin. Remember that they are losing their very talented senior forward that scored the mass majority of their goals for them last season. Overall the team was a solid team. How many seniors are graduating from that team, as well?
