Enough of this already. Did you not see in previous post that this tournament was not on the agenda for this year, so therefore could not be canceled. The club is focusing on a combined boys/girls Columbus Day tournament and also a college showcase/id in February.
And yes I know this, my son plays for the club and our coach told us this. So really, just go away, please stop looking for bad things to post, and go enjoy your new club.

We were disappointed when the club reversed itself because she had based her decision in part on the original policy.
Did she play ECNL this year and what age group?

Not relevant. Sorry, but i'm not interested in having my kid singled out on TS. Suffice it to say we have moved on, we're happy and excited to be playing elsewhere.

It must have been on the agenda at some point. It was posted on the OCYS website just a few weeks ago on upcoming events. Now it is no longer there. I'm not surprised that it got cancelled.

I saw the previous post, but it was wrong. OCYS had it posted on their website up until recently, and it is also on Gotsoccer except that the link for applying is gone. There are no Tournaments listed on the website right now so are you sure that they are planning a boys/girls tournament for Columbus Day. It is on Gotsoccer, nobody has applied yet, but that isn't surprising since it is only early July. The college showcase would be great in Central Florida, but they are going to struggle getting people away from the other ones going on at that time of year.

Simply asked if she played and what age group.

Asked for no name. My kid would have played too but we decided it wasn't a good fit and we would get exposure playing high school. You are FOS.

Showcase good idea for the boys but nothing to see on the girls side. Don't know that many colleges will attend and they tried last year. Was rinky dink.

here is the link for the Labor Day Tournament registration that is now not accepting applications. I guess all age groups must be all full so no more entries will be accepted.

I honestly would like to see OCYS do well but that weekend TBU hosts their annual Columbus Day Tournament and many of the top teams all over the state regularly go to that tournament. So wonder what the quality of teams that OCYS will try to attract as I hope they will try to make it a premier tournament and not middle of the pack.

Agree, and I share the same concerns since we have been to the TBU one every year. We were told they are combining the boys and girls and will make it a big, quality tournament. My son's team will be playing in it, so I too hope it is good. We will give them the benefit of the doubt. As for the college ID/showcase, this is also a good idea if they can make it successful. People have commented on last year's event, and it wasn't huge, but it wasn't bad either for their first year.

I think it was originially on the website because it is a tournament they have done every year. I think through discussion , they decided to focus their energies on two main tournaments. The Disney qualifier attracts most of the top teams in the older age groups, so it is hard to compete with that for Labor Day.

No, I'm not. Revealing detail could allow some to guess who my daughter is. Her identity is not the point. The point was my understanding of how the whole ECNL/HS debacle happened, and that some kids (including mine) factored the announced 'ban' into the decision to not participate in ECNL.

The relative merits of paying HS soccer are not really debatable. HS is simply not as good as club and we all know that. But their are other factors- including representing your school and the pride that comes with it- that made her want to play.

Well for one thing Chinny might be there to sign autographs and the Brazilian owner. So i think hundreds of teams will sign up.

I guess it wasn't bad if you don't mind dropping $125 to be "seen" by 1/2 dozen juco and D2 coach's assistants.

                                correct. So they cancelled it.
