You need to look at stats again 3rd leading scorer for d1 made 1 st team all state

Just looked again:
Mt Hope
Cumberland
Smithfield
Cumberland

Smithfield & Cumberland players each with 10 goals but Smithfield player had more assists. The Cumberland player is a midfielder & should be on first team but the Smithfield player should have at least made 2nd team all state.

That isn't always the case.... Were the goals against teams higher in the standings? All in one, two or three games? You know what I am saying.... Sometimes goal scoring isn't the answer to where you should place on an All State List. Mt. Hope/Cumberland were the best.

She scored in eight different games, against teams like Mount Hope and Cumberland

You are only looking at goals not at points, assists are just as important as goals. I clearly said scorer not goals scored!!

How do 2 teams with a 31% winning percentage end up in the playoffs? Come on RIIL. It's past time that RIIL redesigns the playoff structure to limit the number of teams so that only those that worked hard and played well make the playoffs.

I agree on below .500 teams in the playoffs. RIIL should be going to a promotion/relegation system. Possibly with a first place team as champion? Do we really need playoffs. Play home/homes and the first place team is the champion. Bottom three go down, top three come up etc... Works in the rest of the world.

You need playoffs Mr. English Premier League. Everyone in RI just like everyone in the USA likes playoff games. Schools like playoff games, the media likes playoff games, parents love playoff games and the players kill themselves to get into the playoffs. You need playoffs, this isn't Europe, the land of Draws.

However, I completely agree with you on forced promotion/relegation between D1 & D2.
First - you need to settle on 16 teams in D1 and have 8 make the playoffs. Nice and clean.
Second - drop the last three place teams for the D2 Champ, finalist and winner of consolation game.

You need playoffs Mr. English Premier League. Everyone in RI just like everyone in the USA likes playoff games. Schools like playoff games, the media likes playoff games, parents love playoff games and the players kill themselves to get into the playoffs. You need playoffs, this isn't Europe, the land of Draws.

Relegation is a bad idea for high school. Players graduate. Teams can change dramatically from year to year. The RIIL gets it right most of the time every 2 years.

Mr. Premier League? What does the premier league have to do with anything other than it uses promotion/relegation. So does the rest of the world. Promotion/Relegation keep things honest and fair. The game itself keeps the balance.

Just jumping back in to this thread, but I think the poster was referring to the guy before who suggested that the top finishing team should just be the champion, and forgo playoffs. That's how its also done in the premier league. So that answers your question on how the PL has anything to do with the discussion (other than promotion/relegation).


And I too, believe that would be a terrible idea. We definitely still need a playoff system. But I am all for the promo/relegation part.
