I dont think the pass the ball more then 3 or 4times and never played with the midfielders it went from either the goalie or defenders foot to the fowards( who did I nice job holding the ball your daughter look good with her back to goal). Would you say you are happy with the way they played the game? Congrats to your team!
Luistana definitily is having trouble connecting the mids to the forwards as of late ... that has not always been the case though They usually do not play as much kick and run as they showed last night, although they do like that as well. The Bayside attack looked great last night... very talented team. I was happy for the girls with the win, but they did not look the better team. Bayside was moving the ball really well thru their center and I loved the overlapping run made by the backs (Great CBs on Bayside btw...). Lusitana still needs alot of work and after last night's game those girls know they need to improve. I don't think any of them walked off thinking they were better Bayside. Playing in Masc does not help ....

I have not posted in a year, I jumped on last night because of a good match. I will be gone now before all the soccer purists start call me a townie and an idiot again and please leave my daughter out of your comments good or bad ....

No matter what the Mass people say ... Love State Cup!! Next game for me is the Bayside U11's........ Be Good!

I was there at the game yesterday and I thought it was a wonderful game to watch the different style of play. I agreed with JL that bayside dominated the game but sometime a team may dominate the time of possession but come away with a L. I thought bayside made two mental errors and it cost them the game. But aside from the errors they have plenty of opportunities to put the game away but did not. In tournament play there is a winner and a loser. If you won don't be content with what you did but learn and improve as you prepare for the next game. As for the loser the tournament is not over yet. There are reasons why you lose. Learn from it. Play with some heart and emotion. Parents let the kids play and coaches need to prepare their team to play.

I could not agree more with this statement. Lusitana took advantage of every play and bayside did not. Overall great game and very chippy

South County girls teams so far performing well. Two games coming up in the U16g braciket--these will be tougher than the younger age group games but I predict one victory for SC tomorrow out of the 2 games.

I would tend to agree. At four points we strung together 10 passes in a row, that normally counts for 4 goals in out training sessions. And did you see all those back passes. If it was our training session, score should actually would have been 5-2 Bayside.

Interesting--so even if it was a training session and you weren't facing an actual opponent, you would have still given up two goals?

Always my favorite when I read stuff like this from the so-called "soccer elite"...

Just so ya know, if you read FIFA's Laws of the Game, the object of the game is to put the ball in your opponent's goal more times than they put the ball in your goal.

But congratulations ... when FIFA changes this rule to make time-of-possession and number-of-back-passes the determining factor in winning and losing your team will be well prepared.

And to think they think they know so much more about the game than the rest of us! They may think they know soccer, but they don't know sports.

This has to be one of the dumbest post in a long time!

At the end of the day, noone remembers the team that passed their way through the game, they remember the team that puts the ball at the back of the net. Congrats to lusitana you worked hard and deserved it!

Nice job!!!! Your team is a shoe-in to win the state cup in the new "sport" of "Soccer Ballet". Goals don't even count in Soccer Ballet. Why bother keeping score? Everybody is a winner because winning is not important! Just employ a panel of soccer elitist judges all wearing matching adidas sweatsuits and samba indoor shoes. Better yet, since we're SRI, make that matching Xara sweatsuits (better order them now since they're always backordered). At the end of the game, everyone gets a trophy.

If Lusutana does make it through. Parents won't like it when they got trounced 10-0 every game at regionals. They won't make it because it would be a joke. Kick it as far as you can does work sometimes. Coach must be doing some great training to teach his players don't pass, just kick it as far and chase. Great strategy. It got you the win but embarrassing to watch a coach actually promote it. Don't want my kid having any part of that strategy. If our team played like that, I will skip state cup every year. When you get to state cup regionals, look around at what coaches promote? Passing game eventually wins.

That just confirms how lusitana parents have no clue about how to play the right way. Put the ball in the back of the net is the ultimate goal but you want to do it the right way. I watched that team play and it's absolutely embarrassing how they play but parents and coaches are happy with the result. See how long that lasts.

Loks like the "Soccer Ballet" concept is really gaining some traction here!!! Goals? Who needs goals?

Oops, my bad. I should've said "who needs 'goals the right way' "?
