Meant to say .. not just PDA manages to do it.

CM will be fine. If he coaches a team he needs to be upfront about the fact he won't always be there and make sure that his back up is identified and consistent. He can not have a fill in coach of the week showing up. Kids need consistency.

Why not Rutgers and PDA do it, we should follow that blue print to a T

We will all see pretty quickly how good (or not) CM will be, if he removes BB from the sidelines immediately we will know he plans on at least adhering to some of the ECNL standards. Additionally, if he keeps RF on and actually manages to force RF to keep a set practice schedule, communicate and provide feedback - we know the club is on the right track. All the tests of his leadership and how good he will be depends on how he handles the 2006 team situation.

And if things aren’t changed for the 2006 team - it won’t matter that there is a new DOC. Half the team will still leave if nothing changes with that team and it’s coaches.

It shouldn't take long for CM to realize that RF refuses to play by any sort of club rules. First up for CM to experience comes from CM's first email to the club stating, "in the coming weeks, we will be setting up multiple Zoom meetings with the Girl’s Coaching Staff" - given that RF can't even send a basic email by himself, there is almost no chance of him participating in a Zoom call with his new DOC. Will CM tolerate this?

But in general you are right - the issues with this 2006 team are a good canary in the coal mine to see if this hire is a new direction for FC Bucks or just window dressing. If there is no announcement about RF being replaced and BB being removed as daddy coach, then we will obviously know that the CM hire was just window dressing.

Lets hope the changes keep on coming!!

Bucks needed change at least they did something . Time will tell if it’s a great hire or just better than what we had. CM does not have very big shoes to fill, so I would expect most to be pretty happy with him as compared to DM

Also, CM will really be able to make his recruiting dollars go far - the club will be paying all his expenses to the showcases, where he can recruit all he wants - pretty sweet gig for him and Villanova.
Can't do that. It would be a recruiting violation and he would get fired at Nova. He will do both jobs, but Nova will pay for Nova duties, and Bucks for Bucks duties. The poster that said CM can't do both, DOC and college coach, is 100% correct. No doubt better than DM, but not what the club needed, but again, it's a start. Also, I doubt CM will coach a team and be the DOC, if that is the case, it's will be a mess. You can't coach a club team, be a DOC and then manage a college program. Mike O'Neill at PDA can get away with it because of a huge quality coaching staff, along with having Lary Hart, Tom Anderson and Gerry McKeown always at the club; they are at the fields every night and weekend, they live at PDA. FC Bucks have one decent coach in JM and nothing else. This is a risky move for CM.

It’s not risky at all if it does not work (like FC Delco) then CM can go back to Lower Merion or another club of his liking. So enough with the risk nonsense and by the way the NCAA does not focus on enforcement for non revenue sports like soccer anyway....

Whatttttt....Villanova, or any other D-I school, for any sport, will fire a coach for recruiting violations. It happens often. You have no idea what you are talking about.

Agreed - doubt CM will coach a team and be DOC - he doesn't have time for that. As DOC there isn't really a need to travel to tournaments. So if he does it should be on Villa's dime and for him to scout

Agreed. And hopefully he brings some of the 06 LM players with him. Some will definitely follow him you would think.

Possibly but doubtful. Main line to Newtown would be a long traffic commute.

Agreed and they aren’t going to follow just because he is the DOC. For players to come to the 2006 team changes need to be made to their coaching staff. BB needs to be removed from his daddy coaching job and his manager job and RF needs to become vested in the team or be replaced.

It’s all well and good that the club has a new DOC but unless there are changes made at the coaching level of the 2006 team a new DOC doesn’t mean much, as the problems the team has will still continue.

Not true. If reputation damaged too much, you wont get horses to replace the deadwood. How many outsiders showed up by age group last year for tryouts? Will it matter this year if they even do? They have to show up and someone has to do honest evaluations, and then someone else has to cut players. Believe it or not, at most clubs, this stuff happens less and less as they get older and going into U15 does not seem likely anymore. Most kids have settled to places they are now comfortable at. I will believe it when I see it. If this team is to be a contender, they need to go with a small roster of 16 for next year and take on 6-8 new players, half of whom need to be top 11 players. That is a lot to hope for.

Yes but isn’t that the beauty of this break from soccer? You can look around and pick the right to best suited for you and your daughter.

Spring season is over. There can’t be any excuses now as no one is tied to a team. Choose the team you like best. No need to complain about your previous team.

This is a pretty accurate analysis- it is hard to imagine given the current state of this team and the economy that a lot of TALENTED kids will come out for the team. With this corona crisis you will have many families not being able to afford the cost of an ecnl team, not to mention some may be hesitant to jump on flights for youth soccer tournaments. People may just prefer to stay on their local EDP teams and play drivable tournaments. Only time will tell but it sure seems like a stretch that the team will be able to attract 6-8 quality players. And they will need at least 6-8 as they are projected to lose a minimum of 6. Time will tell....
