There’s too many kids, they’ll watch and grade. If you make it one year, and then regress, you won’t make it the following year.

I am right. It’s common sense. They can’t read minds, they don’t use historical scores. That’s conspiracy theory.

Wait, you believe in aliens right?
Well Red Bull’s just reinvited their entire group of RDS showcase teams(which they haven’t seen in 7 months) so it is not exactly unlikely that ODP kids they have seen play for a year or more might get a break and get invited again over someone that saw glimpses of during a couple tryouts

You’re talking about RDS teams that haven’t been together due to COVID-19 versus ODP kids from the previous cycle.

Galanis won’t let them do that, he’s legit.

I’ve always found the ODP tryouts to be somewhat curious and arbitrary based on the limited time they see the players. Not sure of a better way though.

Are you joking? The man rides Carli Llyod's coat tails like he's an Olympic athlete. Haven't seen a good player who ever came from Medford Strikers or that trained at Universal Soccer. Oh wait...I know 1 girl who trained from 4-6yrs old....I'm sure if she makes the YNT Galanis will plaster her face all over as well.

These coaches have gigs outside ODP as individual trainers and coaches; they like seeing their players.

ODP coaches don’t get paid much. That’s not the reason they do it.

Again, as a parent with a player who is doing this for the first time, I truly wish you are right. However, I have spoken to parents in our club whose players were on the roster last year and they are expecting calls even though they didn't show up for the tryout.

Common sense does not apply in our time. Unfortunately.

RDS always has this rule that if you were in the program in the past 18 months, you don't have to tryout. The rule was there pre-pandemic.

Too bad the evaluators at each age group are vetted so they don’t have a team at the same age group they are evaluating.

It’s easy, they are looking for technical and tactical, separation.

It’s easy to spot if you’ve played the game at a high level.

The difficulty is at the academies, even at young age, kids don’t fit certain styles and Red Bull’s, NYCFC and Union don’t care.

They will always "recommend" to their friends and buddies in the other age group. Please do not tell me it is not going to happen. It happens all the time. Youth soccer worlds is too small and many DOCs know each other. They'll do each other a favor and expect a return at some point in the future.

Let me tell you a story - Years ago working in a school district, the powers that be decided that for an English final they would have them graded by other English teachers (this is a very large school). Turned out that these teachers started collaborating with the ones doing the grading for their classes and swapping points for certain kids. Raise this kid to an A and I'll raise this one from your class.....This was bad enough that a 1st year teacher reported it to administration and the board and teachers were let go because of it.

Apply this to trainers who make livings off this or want to make a name for themselves and you have the same cycle going. This trainer brings along this player for that trainer and they will bring along one of theirs....It happens and it's bull****.

This is why the MNT is garbage and this is why the WNT will follow in a cycle or 2. All you have to do is look at the current YNTs....NONE made it out of group stage during the Youth World Cup. Look at the stories of the original WNT that won and some of the older players now. They didn't have the restrictions on age or all the "elite" academies around sucking up money. This is why the MNT will never win a World Cup and why the WNT will continue to slide....

As long as we keep thinking some players are more entitled than others because of their "talent" without the need of entering the arena with equal-footing, this is our destined future.

Talent my as*. Really. When you are well-connected, no need to work for 2-3 jobs to pay those academies and having yourself as a dedicated driver or hire one, your players are having better chance to be recognized than those who are truly talented but can't pay.

In the end, it's all about rich and powerful.

Don't forget location matters.....How many of these trainers are biased to certain regions or teams. Told my kid not to wear their jersey or bring the team crested bag. Instant judgment is placed on those who can be recognized from certain clubs. Should really be a point to not wear club gear to these.

There are players who make it because their parents are college coaches and are friends with the ODP staff. I cant believe some of the kids that were called back to the second round. They shouldn’t ha e made it out of the first round and they only came to one tryout.

Of parents that played in the Olympics and have an unfair advantage. I guess whatever it takes to chase that dream.
