    I observed the same thing.

There is no way the ACC, SEC and Big10 champ should have been in the same bracket. Horrible scheduling.
Are you saying RU draw should ave been different? Regular season champ or tournament champ?

I dont understand. Coaches do not play the games, players do. FSU created very little. RU have talent, but at some point you meet equal talent and your luck runs out. RU needed more today from their bigger players to win the 1 vs 1 matchups and create something. They didnt get it tonight. Nor did FSU fwiw. FSU GK was PoTM so RU must have done something right. Justus must be wondering if she is going to play much at FSU. Maybe she can come back to NJ and replace Meg McC

Hahaha..right. They play the best all yr long. FSU doesn't play lower RPI teams in ooc. She is ready to go in when needed. Likely not interested in NJ for school and sport.

Yes. Who care about who won reg season? League tournament champ has more muscle. Knock out games.

Rutgers should have been in top bracket with FSU and TN.

They had the easiest route and screwed it up.

BYU and Santa Clara is a great game. Two heavy weights going at it until the bell rings.

Fsu scored on a set piece that the holding mid got their foot on and it had to find the right spot for a goal. MO kept his team compact for the entire game and FSU had no answer. RU’s offense suffered from this tactic. In second half FSU had to put it over the top to their right winger in order to break RUs suffocating defense. Once FSU scored RU had to open up their attack and they gave FSU all that they could handle. Which is why FSU s goalie was player of the game. In order to get to the final game you have to be good and LUCKY. This was a 1-0 game. Personally I would have preferred RU go at FSU and open up the game earlier but that was not MO’s strategy. What a great season season RU had. Hopefully this is the beginning of a elite program. More girls will be recruited in the coming years from PDA and other programs. Also any college coach in the country would have wanted to be In RUs position this weekend except of course the two remaining teams. Well done RU! And remember haters are always gonna hate.

All true. FSU never dominated and RU was in the match to the end. As far as the future recruitment of players to a NE school will remain difficult. If an elite player has a choice of the other 3 schools Rutgers cannot match up to those locations. Unfortunately for them they will remain PDA dependent and hopefully find a top player from another State.

Right on, I think MO should have risked more before they went down. Once they decided to go all in they created chances an other 10 minutes of that should have netted a goal.

Which tells yout that MO does not think his players match up vs FSUs in a more open game. His tactics implied a lack of confidence. RU are a nice story, but where they ended up, College Cup, shows how path dependent so much of this is. They won the Big 10 regular season and deserve credit for that. The NCAA run will be hard to replicate consistently. Their last win was vs St Louis in the second round. I would love to see RU play the better teams more often.

RU doesn’t have an elite respected status outside of NJ. Their style of play is specific PDA that is why other players can’t adjust to MO’s panic, high price, silly coaching style. RU is underwater for their athletics dept and their future is uncertain.

Exactly. Had MO scheduled RU against tough ACC or PAC-12 teams, like FSU during out of conference, he would have known how to play the game. Instead he scheduled FDU and some other soft ones.

MO placed his bet on one player Ali. She’s exceptional but FSU closed her down as her moves were predictable.

Timing helped RU a lot. Having to play a tired, rescheduled MI team during season; all the questionable PK calls (that oddly only happened when they were home, in tight games and in regular season).

Even commentators called out the flopping during ncaa's. played a lot of games at home too, including tourney.

They had a good season and like the prior trip in 2015, it ended in semi-finals. Best of luck to the 5th yrs and those graduating and moving on. It was fun.

Could be but not many teams open up against FSU. It will be interesting to watch BYU play against them on Monday. BYU will either get sliced up or they will overwhelm FSU defense. That is no easy feat since FSU has one of the best defenses in the country. IF BYU overwhelms and beats FSU in their BYU style of play, perhaps an argument can be made that Rutgers should have opened against them as well. But if BYU gets beat handily then Rutgers had the right tactic but the better team just found a way to win
