That being said, we need to acknowledge that some police officers target minorities. Just like every other profession out there, they have their biases and it affects their lives. Not good at all.

I was once pulled over years ago driving in bare feet. As I scrambled to find my flip-flops under my seat, the cop starts screaming at me. All he could see was me rustling around and to him...I'm hiding something or even worse...arming myself. How does he know?

After we clear the air, he says "wouldn't it be better to get a ticket for driving in bare feet vs. being shot? How do I know what you are doing?"

And, yes, I also acknowledge that since I am white, it was quickly resolved without incident...that incident could've been worse with different players. But, the point is the same: Understand that the person pulling you over doesn't know you or your intentions.

Don't you reckon young black men on the street and/or in cars understand that better than anybody? Or do some of you want to suggest that they are naive? Or you could go with just genetically more violent and cavalier.

The other recommended action is to hide your cellphone as the law is tending towards cell phones not being protected by requiring a warrant to search.

Not sure I would be doing much hiding of anything. That will give them cause to look around, and it will certainly put them alert of some activity that could be dangerous.

No, I knew what you were referencing. The investigations eventually will clear as the R's overreach and you won't be able to avoid Trump's continued antics and especially his convention. Can't wait. Can't believe some would seriously consider voting for someone who knows exactly zero about running the country and who is on the side of NO ONE other than himself. When he's not insulting everyone he's telling us how great and wonderful he is.

Your next move is to ask if you are free to go or if you are being detained or arrested. The only RIGHT police have is to ask for Identification. PERIOD. Typically what happens is that the police will call for back up or look for the slightest reason to invoke probable cause.

I live there. Saw it again last night coming through the beach at 1030pm. Car with four Hispanic males (young) pulled over. I was behind and to the left. They were driving under the speed limit, no music blasting, were stopping for pedestrians. White cop pulled them over and one cop went to the passenger side shining a bright flashlight into the interior while the other cop approached the window.

Happens constantly. If you are young and hanging out on the wall after dark you are guaranteed to be harassed even if all you are doing is sitting and talking.

I'm going to suggest that statistics show a higher rate of blacks being shot by black or Hispanic officers than they are by white cops. Both Heather McDonald's research and another just released Harvard study by a black professor support this. You can draw your own conclusion about genetics.

Why? Nothing to hide. If understand my rights but if I choose to allow the search, that is my right.
