You're an idiot Cujo. Koch brothers??? Where the hell are you getting that? The decline comes in part as a result of over burdensome government regulations thanks to the Nanny State Democrats and crony capitalism which BOTH protect under the "too big to fail" philosophy. Try to get a grip on reality. Your solialism will only make it worse. Just look at the problems Europe is facing. All those "freebies" got to be paid for.

Really, are you that dense? When was Bill Clinton asked the question? Come back and post when he has. Until then his wife, the head of the DNC and the future Senate minority leader can't articulate the difference. Because there is no difference in 2015. Welcome to the new Socialist Democrat Party.

Certainly the Democrats have done everything within their power to assert that philosophy. It's all about maintaining power.

Did you even watch the video you posted a link to? The logic that an American worker who makes 34k is somehow in the top 1% is so vstupid a concept that I can't even get my arms around. But hey, if you want to be the butt boy and lackey for the real 1% be my guest. While you are at why don't you just punch yourself in the face and then put your hand in a blender. You'll have a nice trifecta of stupidity to contemplate. The nanny staste exists to keep natural selection from decimating the ranks of the GOP. You should be thankful we are looking out for you.

The current administration took the title on abuse of power starting with having the IRS anyone opposing them.

Apparently the point of the video completely went over your head. Free market capitalism has brought more in the world out of poverty than any socialist experiment ever did. The reason the US is sliding in the ranks of ecomonic freedom is because the political class and their policies are often put in place to protect their cronies NOT the American public you gullibly believe they are protecting. Remember the Malcolm X quote? . Conservatives are wolves, but liberals are foxes. Update it to Republicans are wolves, Democrats are foxes. And remember who he said was the most dangerous.

And yes, an Ametican who makes $34,000 is among the world's 1%. In fact the poor in the US are richer than the middle class in much of Europe.

Weak. You want to really see how to reward your friends? Follow the billions that were spent on the war in Iraq.. Now that is how it is done.

Capitalism has failed because it cannot restrain itself. If corporations behaved in a manner where it balanced interests it wouldn't need government regulation. Their greed is their downfall. A free market only works when everyone benefits and not just 1%.

Cujo needs to learn what a "free" market is. Totally clueless.

The free market you love so much produced child labor, unsafe working conditions, trusts, monopolies, horrendous pollution, a six day eight four hour work, company stories and near slavery in many industries. Your an a hole if you think we should turn the clock back to that. Sorry but capitalism is responsible for its own failure. They get everything they deserve which is strict government regulation and their paying fair wages and providing benefits. I am tired of my tax dollars going to Walmart and other companies because they treat their employees like crap. You are longing for a world whose time has passed. I'm sure your wife still lights your pipe and fetches your slippers.

Child labor. During the early parts of American history, child labor was essential for the welfare and survival of society. Large families with many children had mouths to feed, but they also had children to farm the land , learn a trade or a craft , and contribute to the economy. . When machines became available, and the focus on education became the norm, child labor eventually diminished. Human nature will always have a level of exploitation in every endeavor, but over the course of time it usually levels out in a civilized society.

Trust and monopolies are just examples of advantages gained over other members of society. If they are obtained legally , there can be no quarrel . The recourse is attempt to change the laws if one perceives disadvantage.

Horrendous pollution . The air is cleaner than ever. We have massive amounts of infrastructure for water treatment, billions invested in " clean energy " , and all of this has evolved from simple beginnings of just disposing waste just where you can't see it. These modern times are the result of improvements , awareness and the prosperity to fund it. The notion that society should be blamed for past mistakes is ridiculous . People didn't realize dumpling garbage in the water would make you sick, until people got sick. WE know many things now that we did not know in the past. We knew more in 1950 than we did in 1880.

Near slavery. I am not sure what that means. No one is forced to work for a business. If you don't like your job, you have the economic freedom to seek another. The government applauds and heralds this process every month when they boast of the latest number of " jobs created " . Companies like Walmart exist because their customers find value there. if they don't, they go elsewhere. This is actually happening with competition from Dollar stores. The same rules apply as an employee. Walmart actually employs many members of society that may be unemployable elsewhere. Seniors, people with disabilities , etc. at least they are working and contributing to the economy.

Strict government regulation and high taxation does more harm to the employees than their employer. One of the biggest reasons for a business startup not moving forward is having to jump over all the hurdles.

Capitalism is one of the roots of the great American experiment. The motivation to achieve financial rewards with an idea, a process, or simple participation is the fuel that fires so many related institutions. Education, Research , Exploration, the list is almost endless.

Are you not tired of your tax dollars funding terrorism ? Kerry admitted the other day that part of the money released for Iran will no doubt end up in terrorists hands. Take you pick , Walmart or Terrorists.

I usually agree with what you post and agree with the above post but Cujo does have a point in regards to companies not being, I guess I will say socially responsible to their employees. I have a good job and am paid well, I don't think the CEO and his immediate underlings are worth tens of millions of $$ in salary and bonuses when the people that actually do the work get a 1.8 to 3% raise, which is actually a pay cut. It is wrong to outsource IT jobs to India, it is wrong to continually lay off employees and then hire them back as "consultants" for 1/2 the pay and no benefits, it is wrong to bring in H1B visa workers and have Americans train them and then get laid off and lose the severance if they don't train them. I think you get my point. As much as I am opposed to government intervention, and quite possibly government enabled many of the issues I am complaining about through legislation, if it takes regulation to fix it I am for that.

I understand your issue , but you have to look at the big picture. When the Blacksmith's services were no longer required, it meant that there were now employment opportunities in the auto manufacturing industry. When the Ice Delivery Man was no longer needed because of the availability of refrigeration , there were opportunities to make, sell and distribute them.

What you are implying is a lack of fairness, Fair is an elusive concept. We live in a Global economy, more Global than any time in our history. Perhaps we need to adjust, or reinvent ourselves. The person in India who is getting that American job , isn't much different than the American job created by an American product or process that competes with foreign competition.

Keep in mind that here are billions and billions of dollars invested in America by foreign companies, some of them may even be industry leaders. For example , the Chinese now own Volvo, and they are making cars in America.
