Hated... hated... the last spring season on the small field. Too many bad (technically) teams had a few big kids who could clog up the back without being required to move and boot it forward to another big forward who had a big shot. It didn’t resemble soccer at all and the midfield was useless. Oh.. and those teams stunk on the big field, see GPS when the existed. The top divisions should start the big field transition in the Spring...IMO

it definitely is a big adjustment for teams to transition to bigger fields. I'm surprised more clubs don't make the move earlier.

Agree. They shouldn't play a single spring game on the small field in U12.

My daughter plays in GA and by the end of the fall I thought the play was considerably faster as the season progressed. Looking forward to watching in the spring. It took a few months but I saw most girls improve in understanding the bigger field and playing much faster.

From an experienced parent. Yes it takes a few months for the girls to get adjusted to the bigger fields. Another big jump will be fall U-14.

count down begins!! 1 month to go! 1st list of the spring of top 08 teams:

                1. SSS GA
                2. FC Stars Blue
                3. NEFC GA

Those 3 seem to be the top 3 teams going into the spring. Will other clubs challenge those 3 teams? We shall see.

Yeah, I would probably list as follows:

                  Stars
                  Surf
                  Nefc
                  SSS

Aside from that, Select also managed to lose to noted powerhouses Oakwood and Seacoast in the fall, so yeah.

But they beat the Stars B team!

everyone is entitled to their opinion. I have seen Select play over the years and have found them to be the best 08 team around. As far as Stars Blue beating them IT WAS ONLY 1 GAME! Over the years Select has beaten that Stars team plenty, so based on that fact, plus they are the most technical team in that age group, they are to me, clearly the team to beat in U-13....by far.

I have watched as much 08 as the next guy and I can tell you that Select is NOT at the top of the list. As of right now it is Stars Blue followed by NE Surf. The remaining clubs (select, scorpions, stars white, Nefc GA, Bayside and Aztecs) are all pretty close. This being said, the 08 age group has yet to see much movement to ECNL clubs.

Seems like a reasonable argument. Cant wait for the spring and see how these teams play.
