I have watched as much 08 as the next guy and I can tell you that Select is NOT at the top of the list. As of right now it is Stars Blue followed by NE Surf. The remaining clubs (select, scorpions, stars white, Nefc GA, Bayside and Aztecs) are all pretty close. This being said, the 08 age group has yet to see much movement to ECNL clubs.

Just came across the accepted team list for the FC Stars Tournament in March and wow Select 08 is playing up an age group. That should end all discussion as to who the #1 GU-13 team is going into the spring. Select should definitely be #1. Basically I read into that as they would destroy every team in GU-13 and need better competition. As far as their loss to Stars Blue in the fall, it doesn't mean anything. Teams can have bad games.

This is funny. Well know that this is selects MO. Play up so they don’t risk losing to an 08 team and parents such as this poster can think their team must be good because they chose to play up age group. Not to mention the fact that this team failed to make finals of the last two NEP final fours that were contested.

Anyone who has been around more than 1 minute knows this is true.

Throw in the fact that Select's 09 team is actually good enough to play up and Select can't have them risk playing each other. Wouldn't look good when the 09s take care of business against the 08s.

surely this is a troll job I hope!? Right? I have a daughter who plays 08 DPL and the select DPL team didn't score more than 2 goals for the entire fall. How did you ever put them #5???? Also, select GA played Aztecs a few times this fall and your #1 team lost to Aztecs and struggled every time they played. Aztecs outplayed "the #1 08 team" every single game. List is terrible!! Select GA #5 and Select DPL ?????? off the list of top 25 08 teams.

again, got soccer is not a perfect way to rank teams, but for U-littles it certainly is a pretty good barometer. So this guy is a troll for sure. What he is saying in his rankings is that Select 08 GA which is ranked around #600 in got soccer rankings is the best U-13 team in Massachusetts?? Doesn't pass the smell test. There are definitely better U-13 teams than Select. Gotta love ts. Say and rank any team you want. lol this ranking is highly trollable though!

Stars Blue parent here. As far as south shore select goes in u-13 they are definitely top 6 without question. #1 seems a bit aggressive-and probably a troll job- but definitely 1 of the 10 best teams going. I'd love to see a spring tournament of 10 of the top U-13 teams. It will never happen, but it would be fun to see how all the 08 teams stack up against each other.

And the way to read this is if Stars Blue was to play NEFC you'd expect them to win by about 2.5 goals (32-83 - 30.38). Do better than the expectation your points go up. Do worse and you go down. No magic tournament points needed

From a number 1 ranking being a bit on the aggressive side to top 6 to top 10 all in one post. A couple of more posts and select will be maybe top 50 in MA. Maybe.

Whether they are 6th or 10th in the state select should be playing their own age division. Are they scared? What other excuse is there for totally running away from U-13? Are they afraid to go 0-3 for the tournament?

They certainly would. A handful of 09s are double rostered and now start for both teams. Take those three and put them on their 09 team and it may even be a bloodbath.

It's no secret here at Select that the 08s are the black sheep. The club is using smoke and mirrors (double rostering their best 09s, avoiding playing other top 08 teams,etc...) to maintain the illusion that the 08s are still a top team.

So what happens if both teams play at the same time and there is a conflict? Where do the 09’s play if that happens? I would think they play on the 08 team that needs help.

the coaches have ability to negotiate playing times for league games. i've seen kids fly off the field from one game to get to the next tho. it's awesome for U12 where there were kids getting limited minutes to have little ringers from U11 taking those minutes all to get the mighty win in NEP premiership league play
