I suspect there are more good ECNL teams in teh country as its a deeper league but in the northeast its just not different. Top teams are top teams. SSS would be near top in ECNL instead of at the top in GA. Showcase competition is excellent and college coaches have been active. Not once has a college coach said you should play ECNL if you want to get better…they laugh at the notion that one league claims “best’ pathway. My experience only but maybe my D is just better and didn’t need a league to get noticed?

Maybe she didn’t have the soccer skill but wanted to play the game she loves. Maybe she couldn’t afford somewhere else. Maybe she’s in a challenging major and soccer just isn’t, gasp, the only thing important in her life.
Great job knocking a young woman going to college and playing her sport. Your own children must be so proud of you.

That seems inconsistent with everything i have ever read. I am not saying it's not true just completely opposite of all the literature. I am also somewhat unsure as to why IU would recruit a 7th grader.

But the up and coming parents that are more aware are learning that ECNL and ECRL may not actually be the best choice for their kids and are happily staying put w NEFC and SSS. We know that kids can go to college and play soccer no matter the pathway. It’s not ECNL or nothing. And honestly the talk now amongst parents is not how to make ECNL it’s about where the good coaches are and follow the coaches who care and develop your kid as well as give them plenty of playing time. Riding the pine on ECNL not good for kids spirit or development and not good for the wallet.

True about coaches not contacting sophomore recruits before mid June but coaches should be lining the sideline to get a look at these players now. Florida highlighted that with 60-80 coaches attending 06 and 05 (trapped) games. Great exposure
