Those are some pretty impressive colleges. I’d be psyched if my daughter played for any of them. I also don’t think D1 is the best fit for many girls. If your kid plays GA or ECNL and then gets to play D1,2 or 3 you and your kid are very fortunate and likely have had wonderful memories.Comment

Every now and then, someone makes such an a ***** post that it’s hard to believe but yet here we are yet again. Maybe this kid didn’t have the academics for a different school. Maybe she didn’t have the soccer skill but wanted to play the game she loves. Maybe she couldn’t afford somewhere else. As usual on the Internet, the people with their yoga pants in a bunch end up being much more insulting than the people that have angered them. Some troll says “Enjoy Fitchburg” and SSS mom drops a list of 900 commits because they consider that such an insult. Then a person looks at those 900 commits and makes an obvious joke about how over-the-top that gesture was (as if Fitchburg were really the only school listed) and the person “defends” the kid by insulting the kid (“maybe she didn’t have the academics” my lord).Originally posted by Guest View Post

My D moved in 9th grade from a GA team to an ECNL team because she looked at the rosters of the schools she wanted to attend. There was overwhelming more ECNL representation than any other league or pathway.
This made our decision to move clubs pretty straight forward. Obviously not the only way to approach to this issue, but one that made sense to us.Comment

My D has stayed with the GA and has continued to develop with the best coaching and teammates. We were excited to see the volume of college coaches at the most recent showcase. Lots of opportunity and excited for the futureComment

Oh hey Last Word Larry showed up to the party again with his daily put down of GA. Hmmmm I wonder which coach this is. GA is very good and ECNL very good. But Larry with the put downs of GA. Good teams good players but lots of bad coaches and parents all over the state and this board.Comment

Yes if a player aspires for higher D1 then ECNL may be a better pathway for them - even more so if they're not near one of the few remaining top GAL clubs left. Coaching, strength of teammates and competition matters. Of course plenty of players won't reach those top D1 dreams (there's only so many spots) but there is reasoning behind it.Originally posted by Guest View PostComment

Yes agree....one imperfect metric. But the move from GA to ECNL for my D was a bit of an eye opener at first. Almost on every level things got more intense--speed of play, expectations of knowing and executing tactics on the field, physicality, quick decision making etc etc. It's been a steep learning curve. Naturally the coach has a lot to do with this, his expectations and such, and not to put down the coaching she expeienced in the GA which was excellent, but everything about her ECNL experience is a cut above the GA. I'm not sure my D has a huge "love of the game" she has some for sure, but I do know she has a love of competing and winning. For that she is having a good experience and values her coach and teammates who all share that motivation.Originally posted by Guest View PostComment
