Naturally the coach has a lot to do with this, his expectations and such, and not to put down the coaching she expeienced in the GA which was excellent, but everything about her ECNL experience is a cut above the GA. I'm not sure my D has a huge "love of the game" she has some for sure, but I do know she has a love of competing and winning. For that she is having a good experience and values her coach and teammates who all share that motivation.
Glad your experience was a good one. My d (not a 2007) has played ECNL teams the last few years and has noticed zero difference. Some ECNL teams were good…others not so much. I suspect there are more good ECNL teams in teh country as its a deeper league but in the northeast its just not different. Top teams are top teams. SSS would be near top in ECNL instead of at the top in GA. Showcase competition is excellent and college coaches have been active. Not once has a college coach said you should play ECNL if you want to get better…they laugh at the notion that one league claims “best’ pathway. My experience only but maybe my D is just better and didn’t need a league to get noticed?

100%....good players will always get noticed whatever the league. It's the rest of us who worry where to best position their players.

Maybe she’s in a challenging major and soccer just isn’t, gasp, the only thing important in her life.

Great job knocking a young woman going to college and playing her sport. Your own children must be so proud of you.
Many of people on this forum are absolute trash.

This post seems weird to me. My understanding was that girl's recruiting didn't start until sophomore year. This post is suggesting they are recruiting 7th, 8th and 9th graders. That seems inconsistent with everything i have ever read. I am not saying it's not true just completely opposite of all the literature. I am also somewhat unsure as to why IU would recruit a 7th grader.

graduating college class, not HS class. Coaches can't even talk to kids until June after sophomore year so no there isn't even much game attendance until during sophomore year (except some of the top studs that get on radar's earlier).

Ok that's what I thought. That's way more consistent with what I have read.

SSS would be near the top of northeast ECNL standings? You have no idea what you are talking about. This is a 2007 thread and the 07 Select team would be the last or second to last place team in the conference.

Things are changing. Yes 2007 not SSS year due to DA, GA… all went to EVNL. But the up and coming parents that are more aware are learning that ECNL and ECRL may not actually be the best choice for their kids and are happily staying put w NEFC and SSS. We know that kids can go to college and play soccer no matter the pathway. It’s not ECNL or nothing. And honestly the talk now amongst parents is not how to make ECNL it’s about where the good coaches are and follow the coaches who care and develop your kid as well as give them plenty of playing time. Riding the pine on ECNL not good for kids spirit or development and not good for the wallet.

It's actually the rule now. The days of middle school recruiting ended several years ago

True, and no one should think coming to ECNL just to ride the pine will work out well. Competing for the opportunity not to ride the pine is a different story, but that's an individual decision. After 1028 pages it would be great if people could get that-- if you don't know your kid well, your decisions in any direction are likely to be bad.

Haha, yes lets make a comparison between the cost of SSS and Stars/Scopions--my wallet is all ears.

True about coaches not contacting sophomore recruits before mid June but coaches should be lining the sideline to get a look at these players now. Florida highlighted that with 60-80 coaches attending 06 and 05 (trapped) games. Great exposure

Or another way to look at it, play at Select GA for thousands (yes thousands) of dollars more than either of the ECNL program. More money for an inferior product. Good luck!

Costs are more or less a wash between the two leagues. Pick the best coaching and fit, not the patch
