New England currently doesn’t have a USL arm and its academy, under Bryan Scales, has produced mixed results as compared to the rest of MLS."
Who relocates to Foxboro for mediocre money?

"In the coming weeks Arena will work to build out a staff and analyze the soccer operations from top to bottom, before determining next steps in the process. After that initial settling phase he’ll take over head coaching duties, as he eyes the June 2 visit to the Galaxy or the June 26 home match against Philadelphia as his first game on the sidelines."

We figured out Scales immediately. He loves the power of everybody getting in line, the players constantly worried, the parents afraid to ask questions. It’s ok to ask questions if your kid is the flavor of the month but OH Boy when he falls from grace.... you better not make eye contact. Soccer? He’s clueless.

            Waste of a year.

Scales combines lack of talent with a vindictive nature. BTW our kid is one of the academy’s top prospects, but Scales is scum.

The bench and Bolts are littered with kids whose parents thought they were Revs “top prospects.”

Zach Herivaux come to mind? Scales ruined that kid.

Hearing there will not be a u13 team. Can anyone confirm? Any others they aren’t continuing?

I thought that was already confirmed and it would be part of the new Pre DA league they're participating in. The Revs have zero interest in developing younger talent. They acquire older kids developed elsewhere. There is incredible turnover with their younger players.

The Revs pre-DA league is only U12. The U13s are simply being released in true Revs fashion. Good luck in all of your future endeavors kids.

Revs make no sense. They create a pre- DA league, have special training sessions for these players to ID them, and then have no team to funnel them onto the following year? They'll have to send out scouts to U13 games, making extra work for themselves. Although, if history repeats itself, they'll look at the DA game stats and choose the players with the highest goal count, like they did with the U12 team this year, then watch the team plummet over the years as everyone else catches up physically. Maybe Arena will start asking the hard questions.

It was confirmed by Gary Hall himself.
They stopped also the ID of the current U12 kids.

Just read NEJournal and find this telling:

"Arena, like Friedel and Burns before him, said investor/operators Robert Kraft and Jonathan Kraft would provide the financial resources to improve the team. Arena said he will be “smart” about spending on player salaries, though the goal is to make the team “much more competitive and ultimately, one day, win an MLS Cup.”

So they start out claiming they will get the financial support from Krafts - but then the entire next paragraph is Arena talking about how frugal he can be and doesn't need to spend money.

Which is why at first was feeling optimistic until I read this. The Revs and the Academy won't change until Krafts decide to invest in it - and they really don't have to. Whoever pointed out that a) combining Burns/Friedel jobs is cost cutting and B) we may never see a stadium bc the only goal is to cut costs on Foxborough might be right.

And while everyone is hot to trot to point out the 35m training facility its still about half the investment other clubs are making.

The good news is the abject failure of the Revs strengthens the Pro/Relegation movement that seems to be taking hold.

Hope to see changes at the Academy but not holding my breath.
