Truth stranger than fiction
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostThose kids can run circles around ours and are HUNGRY for opportunities. That's who we need more of in US soccer, not suburban white kids who look at soccer as a means to getting into a better school.
But yeah, Trump will probably end that program. He's already talking about limiting education visas which would be crushing to our universities. They rely on some degree of full pay foreign students but also the prestige it brings to schools by having diverse student bodies and academic reputation.

Revs 50% D1; 25% Pro
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostThe tale of the tape. The Revs have become alarmingly insignificant in the college recruiting space so say people who don't understand simple math. Could there be another MLS outfit with a track record in 2018 that is this demonstrably amazing?
How many of U18/19 players were seniors last year
-at the Revs?
-at the Bolts?
-at the GPS et al?
This should light a bulb in your brain. Don't peek at the answer below
Revs U18/19 had 5 HS seniors. That's it.
50% D1 rate for last year. Pretty amazing.
20% Pro rate. Pretty amazing

A sample size of 5 is not statistically relevant, let alone to divide into a subset of "pros". Over time look at where Revs players wind up and how much (or how little) they're actually playing in college. Their pro development track record also sucks

Granted, more D1,D2 players and less pro in the past. (More college successes then, now starting to focus on pro development.)
Revs have only 5 seniors per year on the team. Next year it's 3 so far.
Bolts have about 40 seniors in various placements. GPS and NEFC probably have 2000 each. The comparisons you make are wildly inaccurate.

Kevin Vang Providence
Ohad Yahalom Dartmouth
Andy Chisholm Providence
Alex Nagy Vermont
Alex Clarke Bucknell
Ryan Clare Princeton
Tim Ennin UConn
Soccer powerhouses? Meh. Ivy placements? Good for them for being smart enough to get in. At least one also played prep soccer, a few played part of their careers in public HS. There are non DA players on all of those program rosters listed above. If commitment tracker guy keeps up his great work we'll see how they do down the road. Bets: some of those players won't be on rosters by junior year - not strong enough or big enough for D1, even the mediocre D1 we have in these parts.

Point being Revs deliver on D1/college placement! After all, isn't that what US soccer is about?
(Obviously a failing aspiration if soccer is the point of it, nope, rich elite/ super-elite suburbans who would never go pro and use as a boost for their future orthopedic practices).
At least US is guaranteed to play 3 games in the 2026 WC.

Can you please remove Ryan Clare from the list because he was with the Bolts until December of 2017. He had already committed to Princeton before his arrival in Foxborough. That had absolutely nothing to do with the New England Revolution Academy.
Also, could you inform Mr. Math that he needs to reformulate his percentages as well.
Thanks in advance,
The Talking Soccer Community

Kids move all over. We can say the same about the Revs dropoffs to GPS, NEFC, Bolts et al each year.
Stay on topic.
There are one handful of seniors per year at the Revs is the point.
Out of that handful, there is a high percentage of commits.
The rest is moot.

2) If half are playing in two years that will be a miracle.
3) On average there would be 9-12 seniors graduating this year. To say this smaller class is somehow representative of the Revs track record would be an exageration
