The kid at the far right, 17 year old Brighton burned the Revs for two.

That is precisely why the Revs don't care about final league results. If the U16 players all played in their age group, the 2000-2001 would be without a doubt one of the top teams in the country. The playing up is the key to development in soccer. All other nations have been doing the same for certain players, for years. Pay to play Academy clubs don't even consider this notion because they're focused on results for their paying customer bases. Klinsmann had been echoing the same for years.

New England led MLS last year with 20.6 percent of its minutes going to Homegrowns. (The Revs’ figure was bumped up significantly by London Woodberry’s 25 starts; he was originally an FC Dallas Homegrown.)
Real Salt Lake was next at just under 15 percent. Almost 14 percent of FC Dallas’ minutes went to Homegrowns after leading the league in that category in 2015. But they were the scale skewers.
Half the MLS teams (10 of 20) devoted less than 5 percent of their minutes to Homegrowns.

The post you replied to said 'high level players'. The only player that could truly be considered 'developed' by the Revs currently on their (or any roster) is ZH. I appreciate that he is probably a good young man and hard worker but that's about where it ends soccer wise. That really tells the whole Revs 'development' story. They just don't train enough or correctly. And that goes for all academy teams. Pulisic may be the exception (he is the real deal) but I would bet his technical training came from his parents, who both played, rather than his academy team. His dad knew the best thing to do was to get him away from MLS if he really wanted to be the best possible player.
It's a shame but it's true. And now with Arena in charge it will only get worse. Technical skills need to be pummeled into a kid at a young age and there is very little even done at academy practices.
