It's not really about whether a kid (or three or four) smoked some pot, but whether the Revs have any interest in enforcing their rules. Maybe some of the younger players will end up following these examples but that might have happened in any situation. In any case, most parents would, I imagine, prefer that their boys not be exposed to drugs while on a road trip.
If these were more marginal players, I suppose the Revs would have gotten rid of them immediately, but these must have been contributors.

If he were just an academy kid Revs coaches could sweep it under the rug, handle it internally, go off on their long winter break and forget about it come spring. But he's a professional. Their golden boy #4 home grown. Professional athletes have been roasted over the coals for much less. So we'll have to see how this plays out.
But it still says a lot about the environment the Revs have created. The coaches are trying to hold up IA and EF (#5) as what all the boys should be working towards. But if IA doesn't give two tokes about his professional career then why should the boys in the academy? The coaches don't take themselves seriously. They don't hold the boys accountable. There is no list of players ready to be recruited in if a spot (or 4 or 5) opens up. No consequences.

It's fairly easy to connect the dots, otherwise why drag him to FL if he's going to sit the bench (or was he sent home?). So technically he's breaking MLS rules and DA rules and ought to be dealt with accordingly.

There's nothing quite like a teenage drug scandal on the Revs' watch, out of state, to keep the online world buzzing about an operation in a total tailspin during the off season.
