That's the Revs way. Kraft will only build a stadium if the city or state foot 99% of the bill, which won't ever happen.
I still am not seeing what features the Atlanta "world class" facility has that the Revs facility won't have. Maybe you are right the it will be terrible quality from the ground up. I guess we will see what it looks like when it is built, then I will get it through my thick head.

Any update on the pot smokers? Have they been dismissed from the Academy?

No one smoked pot. This is a nasty rumor. Move along.

Most certainly not a rumor. The rumors are about using much stronger drugs.

It's not really about whether a kid (or three or four) smoked some pot, but whether the Revs have any interest in enforcing their rules. Maybe some of the younger players will end up following these examples but that might have happened in any situation. In any case, most parents would, I imagine, prefer that their boys not be exposed to drugs while on a road trip.

If these were more marginal players, I suppose the Revs would have gotten rid of them immediately, but these must have been contributors.

It's not the Revs rules but USDA rules. It literally says a drug-free environment in their rules and regs. It's about how incidents are handled. Nothing gets people to fall in line like 1) demonstrating that you're serious about the rules, say with game suspensions or even expulsion 2) having a frank discussion about it. Seeping things under the rug never works and only keeps rumors going. Frankly I don't care if kids did it (they're teens; they're almost all fukups in way or another and the coaches can't be with them 24/7) but I do care what kind of tone and example an organization sets. If the Revs expect so much of the kids it isn't too much to expect some professionalism from them.

You have no clue! Obviously not involved with the Revs either if you don’t know who the “contributor players” are. Stop trying to spread more rumors.

IA became an MLS professional athlete when he signed his home grown contract. Yes they brought him along to the FL showcase to babysit the U19s since the coaches thought the team needed some extra help. The rumors about this started on Sunday. He was NOT rostered on Monday. It's fairly easy to connect the dots, otherwise why drag him to FL if he's going to sit the bench (or was he sent home?). So technically he's breaking MLS rules and DA rules and ought to be dealt with accordingly.

If he were just an academy kid Revs coaches could sweep it under the rug, handle it internally, go off on their long winter break and forget about it come spring. But he's a professional. Their golden boy #4 home grown. Professional athletes have been roasted over the coals for much less. So we'll have to see how this plays out.

But it still says a lot about the environment the Revs have created. The coaches are trying to hold up IA and EF (#5) as what all the boys should be working towards. But if IA doesn't give two tokes about his professional career then why should the boys in the academy? The coaches don't take themselves seriously. They don't hold the boys accountable. There is no list of players ready to be recruited in if a spot (or 4 or 5) opens up. No consequences.

                  Two tokes. Well played!

There's nothing quite like a teenage drug scandal on the Revs' watch, out of state, to keep the online world buzzing about an operation in a total tailspin during the off season.

This should be the final straw for Bryan Scales. The program is struggling, the first team is struggling, the drug issues with the youth players and the one pro (not just weed).Scales is the director and ultimately he's responsible for all of it. He should be dismissed of his duties.
"Handling it internally', will not cut it this time.

Burns should “handle it internally” to Scales. Painful.

I know! Pretty soon he’ll be the drug kingpin of the east.

Drug tests would be easy enough to administer and they've got to be familiar with the process from the Patriots side of the business, but the expense might cut into the cold pizza budget. And then they'd have to do something.
