That is the ideal scenario but it won't happen any time soon. Running a residency program is exponentially higher and it will be a long time before clubs can make enough off of players to justify the costs. Most families, even those dedicated to the idea or a pro career, still want some assurance of a decent high school education. The true top players, the CP's of the world, will continue to want to get abroad as quickly as they can.

However, ten years in it's not at all surprising the MLS clubs are re-evaluating DA and their role in it. If a club has four teams that's 80 kids they're paying to train. Say at most one kid a year can go pro, two if you've been blessed by a fairy godmother. The other 78 just want to play in college. No money in that. No one should be shocked they'd like to winnow it down to 20 players and train them how they want, not how USSF dictates. Clubs might be able to manage a residency program on that smaller scale by teaming up with a local school for the education piece, but not for 80 kids.

Well, you would require the players to sign a contract to commit to playing in MLS or pay the investment back.

Therein lies another issue clubs face, US child labor laws. However, why should players have to pay clubs back? That's the risk clubs take in player selection - not everyone will work out. International clubs certainly don't do that. They know there will be attrition along the way. Right now clubs have to take risks on 80-100 players. They'd rather take a risk on 20.

Stay focused on changing slimy Scales and the nutless coaches. Until they go the Revolution academy will be a graveyard of young players dreams. #burnsgrowapair

Can they do that? Obviously we all know what diks they can be to Revs players, but to others? Doesn't get more douchey than that

Looks like he'll have to head to Seacoast.

Could he appeal? USSF certainly knows the Revs blow.

It's not like it's rocket science. fps European powerproducers like AJAX stay in business with well over 80 players. Heck, they reap in the dough. Just means you need to produce quality players to sell. This is not difficult. Even the US Gymnastic team minus the abuse figured out how to produce great athletes and it doesn't involve becoming brain surgeons or hedge fund managers rather training. and Training. yes, training. Not Skip and Tripper private school elites trying to overpower MLS academies, but the obvious blue collar population incorporation. Take a look at successful academies and you'll see who their current stars are.

Revs Academy is the only true pathway!

                          Let's go!!!!
With this 6th home grown signing means that approximately 5% of the kids that graduate from the Revs U19 age group have been signed to a pro contract.

There are rumors of another in college will be signed. It may be a pathway if your goal is professional soccer in the US. Although Fagundez wants out!

My kid hates it at the Revs, but the money we save allows us to pay for private training.

                                That makes sense.
