So is being with them hurting or improving your exposure and chances of getting recruited? If you have to pay to supplement MLS training, why are you there in the first place.?
Of course, you'll argue that the majority of the kids will be going to college, rather than into the MLS, and you may be right that the Revs may not help them much in this regard. However, if an ambitious player is shooting for a higher goal, the Revs may look more promising (as long as they have other opportunities for real training).

The Revs play in the GA cup (MLS teams only), plus seem to play other MLS teams in league play and at showcases more often than the other local DA teams. MLS scouts will most likely be attending league and showcase games in which two MLS teams are playing against each other. I would think these games also draw scouts for YNTs more often than a game with two average non-MLS DA teams playing each other at showcases.

But anyone considering the Revs - especially younger ones - as an option should know that if you go the "free" route it may not get you what you think it will. More and more MLS DA kids are practicing up to 9 times a week. By the time the ubittys make it to juniors at 3 days a week they will be totally out classed.
I would pay for my kid to go to the Revs if it made the program better.

Assuming that it isn't a typo, that isn't very useful since most kids in MA can't pick up and go to another state to train at a better MSL academy. The only comparison that is a factor in decision making for most of us is how they compare to other local DA academies.

Being ignorant of the fact that other clubs are doing much more for their academy teams and being content short changed is not going to result in any improvements. But, like I said, with the poor coaching and development going on at the Revs, maybe parents are glad their kids have the extra time to train somewhere else. Poor training 9 times a week, especially with a commute, would be pretty brutal.

While the system really needs residency programs, I doubt many kids would go too far from home. Kids from this area might go down to NY or Philly but much less likely the West coast. Realistically not many kids from here would make such a club so its impact locally won't be much. But it will improve the quality of clubs running residency programs and create greater disparity between those with and those without.
