And parents will continue to fall for their pitch because it's free. If the Bolts could ever figure out how to provide free DA they could grab all the talent. Until then they'll be second fiddle.

Used to be that the Revs would make cuts, replacing them with higher quality players. Seemed a few of the very top Bolts & Seacoast players would be in this group every year. Now, not only are the Revs losing top players, but quality Bolts & Seacoast players are turning down offers and staying with their clubs. If this trend continues, it'll be interesting to see how the MLS DA will compete with the non-MLS DAs in the area. If the Revs continue to look like a dead end, some of those quality U12 Alliance players may opt out of the Revs and choose other DAs. If I were the Bolts organization, I'd push really hard to reduce costs for those U13&U14 age groups, as right now the main attraction to the Revs is that it's free (that kids are leaving or turning down offers to play for free really says something about the lack of development).

The development piece escapes them and would most likely be overshadowed by the brag factor anyway. The Revs will continue to grab players and stunt their growth.

In the middle to upper income soccer demographic cost won't be a driver. Families will pick based on what avenue suits their player's goals and desires best. Same with the battle for girls ECNL and GDA. We won't have a clear cut winner - DA will win out by a thread, it will vary regionally, and both will be diluted.

But keep in mind your HS is not the same as others and what drives one kid isn't the same as the next. The inability to play other sports is also a factor for some players. Top players, especially those with D1 ambitions, will likely stay put. But if you're a mid to lower level DA player whose best shot is D2 or D3 at most and you can get there without DA? Some may take that if they are dissatisfied with DA or HS sports matter to them (assuming ECNL delivers on a good level of college exposure). Most DA clubs are still pay to play, so why not pay for what makes you happier? That's why I agree with the poster you responded to - it will get diluted and the non MLS clubs will be the ones taking the brunt of it. MLS clubs will continue to draw the top talent
