if the parents/ player looking for a residency program, its a different story. Obviously chose one that best fits what their son is looking for. Good luck to him and his journey.

Help me understand the hate for the REVS. Who cares that much unless its personal.

No hate bro, just utter disappointment. They're the only MLS club for a few hundred miles. They should be crushing it with attracting talent, performance and recruiting, but they're not. They're lazy, put zero effort into the program, the coaching blows and they treat kids like crap. Locals would like to see something better. Even the first team is only so-so. A disappointing organization all around

Yes, this. Sometimes people assume those criticizing the Revs had kids who were cut or didn't make it into the program. In reality, most of us have done a little research into MLS academy programs across the country and see how much effort and resources other clubs are putting into their academy systems in order to produce homegrown talent. The Revs program is severely lacking in comparison. Go on youtube and see for yourself. Top players shouldn't have to move away from New England to get a quality academy experience. Right now, this is definitely the case.

When we travel to the Red Bulls or the Union we all get to see what we’re missing firsthand.

There is a different talent pool among other factors.

Nope. It's not just about the size of the talent pool. It's about commitment and the effort a club puts into to developing talent. There was a survey a few yeas ago among MLS clubs about how much they were spending on their (then) BDA teams. Red Bulls was at the top with $4M and the Revs at the bottom with $1.5M. Other MLS clubs also have a much better track record with developing pro talent. Revs management just doesn't care.

“Among other thing” but thanks for describing.

It must come all the way from the top right? How can anyone look at the academy’s record and say “right, all the region’s very best talent is playing outside the region, your record is deplorable year after year, we are a laughing stock amongst the entire top tier youth development landscape, but well done.... carry on!”

And don’t tell me that they are only looking for professionals and don’t care about development. That is just lazy and an excuse.

BDA/MLS needed the MLS clubs all in. It lends prestige to the league to keep the pay to play clubs and customers in the league. It's cost prohibitive and logistically a mess to run a MLS-only league; they need the pay to play clubs. The Revs fill a strategic geographic hole. They also, despite spending the least, still are spending $. The league can only push clubs to do so much. The rest is a conscious choice by the Revs to put in the minimal effort. If they were really focused on the few they thought were pro material they have a lousy record there as well. Kids moving away to other clubs is very telling.

Let me know when a player west of Buffalo, NY moves to Foxborough to become a Revs residential player.

Seems like Krafts do not care about Academy. Its about the all mighty dollar. Kraft not spending a penny more on REVS and the Academy then required. Would argue the best players are not already there. or at least the top 5 in every age group.

Local talent going elsewhere is similar to BC hoops not getting local blue chippers.

Now Revs Academy players get warehoused in the USL instead of signing a homegrown contract? Well that's anticlimactic. It's like a D3 signing ceremony.

They just cleaned up this mess. Prospects only, just signed a Wake Player also.

"Puckerin, 18, most recently spent time with Atlanta United’s Academy and has trained in Europe with West Ham United and Aberdeen Football Club. A U.S. Youth National Team goalkeeper, the Cambridge, Mass. native has received invitations to U-16 and U-17 U.S. National Team camps."

Another example of a quality player leaving the region to develop. Imagine moving to Atlanta and ending up on the Revs anyhow - nightmare
