I could see the older girls with big egos pushing out the quieter younger girls even though the younger girls are very good. We don’t have parent politics but we have cliques and I do think sadly our coach has a few favorites not knowing those favorites are the toxic ones dividing the team.
    So, typical teenage girl activity?

Typical queen bee covering up for insecurities or problems at home. Usually the toxic are leaders because the others would rather follow than be targeted. Typical middle school garbage. When the tall girl stops growing and the young girls pass her by in maturity, talent, and height she will go away. By Sophomore year it’s all over. I would never want to be a middle school aged coach of any level team.

Assuming all clubs will have offers out within next 3 weeks. We will enjoy the quiet on here until then?

Where did you get that info? Select has started offers. The new RI GA clubs will be gabbing anyone they can asap as they are fighting an uphill battle. Scorps will start early offers soon and finalize rosters in 3 weeks. Stars wont make offers until last.

Yeah, I heard Select was giving offers to new players this week, current players starting next week. This is just sideline chatter but seems reasonable.

Select started 1st week of April for top external players. You can assume RI GA clubs did the same as well as Scorps. NEFC is in a bunker somewhere crying. Stars still acts like they have no competition.

Some people reading this will take it for sarcasm or being nasty but I agree with your sentiments. Too many parents own social lives are intertwined with their daughter soccer and make it part of their own. When my daughter played club we would start thinking about the following season over the winter break and reassess if this was the right club/team/league for her. Yes, the social aspects with her teammates was important but the soccer took precedent. Parents should take a step back and listen to their daughters to see what her end game is for club soccer? That determines her future once you get to 8th grade and have to make decisions based on there dedication and soccer skills. I could tell you one of the most important characteristics that these players must develop is commitment, determination and overall mental toughness. These mental attributes is what separates the top players from everyone else.

really need to have a "commitment day" that all clubs are forced to follow. Tryouts when ever you want, but no one is allowed to make a commitment, and no money can change hands, before the designated date

Sounds like you want to be the commissioner of youth soccer and govern all the leagues. I do not want to follow a deadline that you are proposing. If a player wants to attend a few training sessions with different teams and take their time to decide where to play then that’s there prerogative. It’s not a good indication if a family/player is hesitant or not sure about there current team. Either you want to return or not.

Why would they make offers to external players BEFORE current ones? Is this an ECNL rule?

Also how can you assess a player in just one scrimmage if everyone is competing against each other and so nobody will pass the ball and own players steal the ball?

Stars current players are lucky because by the time they have tryouts all the good players will be snatched up by the other clubs. So they don't need to worry about being cut.

Stars have had guest players at practices since February.

ECNL cannot make offers to other clubs ECNL players until after May1

SSS does not count as ECNL until next season starts so they don’t have to follow the rules yet.

I see your argument. A signing day of say May 1st to existing players and new players being offered spots who attended practices in April would take the stress off players and nervous parents. Players could focus on games not worrying about what may or may not happen. The whispers and sneaking around might also be minimized. From our perspective, our kid is cautiously optimistic as she knows she gives everything she has to each practice and game not skipping a practice. She works hard outside of practice too. We assure her that’s all she can do and her coach will value her work ethic and commitment and keep developing her as well as his team or he won’t. It’s beyond her control and ours. If she’s cut or moved we then shift the mindset to finding a better fit. May 1 deadline would help parents who are looking for a new team to be able to still visit practices as opposed to just a tryout end of season. Cutting players end of May or moving them seems a bit harsh. no time for parents and players to look around. Many clubs are practicing on the same nights and players cannot visit other team practices as a back up plan or they risk upsetting current coach and losing playing time.

this makes no sense. Some kids are not sure if they want to leave and probably only wants to leave for the right team. It is fine if you do not want to follow the rules, but then everyone will know what type of person you are and should know to stay as far away as possible (and it would make sense since everyone else will feel the same way)

A reason to make offers to external players first:

Team has ranked their players. Say 1 through 18. They look at external players and know that they now have 6 signed up that they feel are better than the bottom 6 of their current players. Now they know to only offer 12 current players. If that had offered current players first, they wouldn’t know where to cut off the offers. They would have then offered maybe 10 current players, knowing there were maybe 4 definite cuts and 4 bubble players. All 18 sets of parents would have talked and chaos and insecurity would have reigned. This way, all 18 decisions are levied all at once.
