Universities want to stay open. They don't care that coaches were going to FL to recruit. Administrators have to consider the entire school not just the athletic department. Yes it's dumb (any traveling employee could quarantine at home for a week) but that is their mind set

I think it should be cancelled tomorrow to give people time to cancel their reservations. Transmission at the field is minimal, but transmission during travel to and from is troublesome even if this variant isn’t as bad. Also given all the issues with the airlines, this just isn’t the time for a national soccer tournament.

I agree, as someone who has a 2023 and should want to go, we wish they’d call it off.

Agree. Call it off and go to a different ECNL event in the spring when virus is more in control and airlines are having so many cancellations. A few months isn’t going to ruin anyone’s chances of getting recruited.

The worst of the holiday travel snags will be over. It isn't a problem for FL or even some other SE teams who will drive. Kids want to play, coaches need to recruit. It isn't easy to just reschedule an event this size.


Now if a lot of teams drop out or coaches have Covid travel restrictions from their employer, then it could be.

If it happens, expect last minute changes. If your player has coaches coming to watch they need to keep them up to date.

No need to cancel unless too many teams drop out. Getting recruited isn't easy and isn't a one step process. Many find they have to readjust their targets when no one comes to watch the first round. Untimely injuries can screw up their opportunities to be seen. They should grab every opportunity they can to get in front of coaches

Literally flying in 3 days and somehow all the travel snags will be over? I doubt it. It isn’t the end of the world for these teams to go to a different ECNL event this spring. College isn’t playing a real season this spring so college coaches will be able to attend games and other events.
