Who picked up the WU and Pioneers ODP players that left? Did they head east to a bigger club or just switch between those 2 clubs?

Neither team has lost an ODP player, the only player WU lost went to Stars and will not be missed from her club.

Stars picked up 1 and the other has been seen playing with U13 WU Reg 1 team.

Pionees did not lose any ODP players. the player they lost this year went back to town soccer. They did not return a player last year, but she was not an ODP player either.

2 posts, 2 different answers. I assume the Stars didn't take a player that WU will not miss? Must be a better player than the poster thinks. Its also strange that WU would allow a U12 to join a U13 team mid-season.

Not so strange given that the player had been playing with the 13's already.

why would a parent even allow a U12 player go up to U13. was this player dominating at the 12's. seen WU play a few times, never saw a standout player,

Perhaps her parents thought she was too good for the U12's (needed the competition) , stirred the pot and "won." Most clubs would rather give in than lose a player and the fees. Sad but true. A U12 playing on a U13 Region 1 team must be a pretty good player.

May I suggest the previous post as a reason, it looks like the commitment level and ability of the U12 WU team is not up to par with the desire and need of the player. You would have to believe that a team that has moved to R1 is at least dedicated and invested as much to provide the level of play an ODP player would need. In support of that move, TM the coach of the 13’s is very good. This would then allow the family to find a new fit next year that would be more appropriate.

Lets not question the parental choices of others without knowing all the facts. I know this child and family. I can tell you that she is a talented player and above all, a great kid that will be missed by her team on and off the field. Her family chose a path they felt would suit her best and our entire team wishes her nothing but success!

Very fair and useful post. As an insider, is the aftermath of her leaving as bad as some would suggest? This happens all the time and sometimes teams recover and move on and other times it is a team killer. Given the WU start in the Scorpion Bowl and MAPLE it appears that they are still working through some issues? Having 3 ODP type players leave is a lot to try to rebuild from. Our team is going thru the same type of thing in U13B with another club and it has us all a little worried and everybody scrambling a little. Kind of ugly.

Once again, people are making assumptions based on TS posts. WU changed its policy for the 2009-2010 season regarding playing up, and so the U10 players who were already playing up on TMs U11 team would have to play U11 again for the insted of moving with the team they'd started with. This caused hard feelign from the start but the players stayed with WU last year and played U11 again. This year, things cahnged and so some moved back and some moved on. End of story.

This year, the Pioneers lost two Ludlow players mid season because they decided they would just play for Ludlow D1. Again, a personal choice made by players and their families...not a judgement on their abilities on the field. The other Pioneer that didn't return to the team last fall played for an NEP team, but is now out for the spring due to injury. Again, she left the team for personal reasons not because she couldn't cut it. In fact, I have seen this player and she SHOULD have made ODP. Apparently, leaving EMs team didn't play in her favor come ODP selections.

Please stop judging 12 year old girls and their families based on TS gossip.

I think Pioneers also lost 1 ODP quality player last season not sure where she is now I think she went to an NEP team as I did not see her in MAPLE but not sure which one. Question out there is whether or not they can all come together on 1 team or just continue to spiral into fractured irrelevance.
The player you are talking about played NEP this fall and guested with Pioneers at the Stars tourney. I also heard that WU, Stars, and Stars West have all been recruiting her, but that she is injured and out for the spring.

She did try out for ODP, and MANY people from different teams were shocked that she didn't make the cut. We all just chalked it up to politics. General concensus...this was one clear case where not being chosen wasn't because she lacked talent.

Anyway, despite what the criticism of an earlier post, the poster'spoint is a good one. Choose the coaching style and club philosophy that best suits the individual player.

BTW, To the Pioneer parent who claimed that the "unregisterd" poster had an agenda...Are you the pot or the kettle? Did I miss your registration name?

I'm not judging. I believe the policy about not allowing playing up is still there. However there are other factors at play that created this situation. Both teams, u12 and u13 have issues and its not looking good for the WU girls side at the moment.

She is a very good player and I am sorry to hear she is hurt, that is too bad especially for such a young woman. Certainly ODP material, that she did not make it and they took others is outrageous, I guess you don't leave the Pioneers without paying a price. Just another black mark against ODP and the selection process as far as I am concerned. I thought she was going to play for WU but I guess not or maybe she was before she got hurt, who knows.

Is there a U12 Stars West team, I thought not.

Sorry but the fact that they chose Town soccer over Pioneers midway through the season speaks volumes. Sounds like WU and Pioneers both have issues. Can't those people out there just get along?
