College coaches are pushing their recruits to play DAP even if they were recruited from a non DAP team. Charlie Rugg at BC is one example and TM may be another.
College coaches know that boys who have played DAP are much better prepared for the college game.

      This makes no sense.

Well this sounds like a judge telling a defendent, you must prove your innocence. I think it's up to the prosecutor to prove guilt. If these players would have thought that they might get some looks, they would have waited until after the winter showcase? As been pointed out , endlessly, everyone agrees the college coaches are attending DAP events. What the DAP koolaid drinkers can't seem to grasp is that some non-DAP players and 1st year players are going to play in college without having a DAP resume.

Who cares? You people will argue over anything. The kids got into schools and may get to play some soccer in the process. That's all that really matters, isn't it? Oh no, not to you chest thumping heros in this forum. You dopes really do need to get a life.

Not quite. Just asking for proof to support your argument.

What do you mean by vehement? Posters have conceded that DAP may be preferable and that they get all the coaches. Why do you keep repeating that? What is questioned is what that actually means in terms of the final outcome. Posters are only arguing that non-DAP players can play college soccer if they are good enough. You repeatedly refuse to present any data EVEN from the 3-4 years DAP players, that the ultimate advantage is as great as you suggest. No one is saying that non-DAP is better, but the limited numbers here strongly suggest that the DAP advantage is more modest than claimed.
If one looks at the 2010 (last year's) D1 committment list on ESPN Rise, I think it's clear that more colleges are grabbing kids from DAP programs.

There are 9 kids with a hometown in MA listed as committed to D1 schools. 7 of them listed a DAP team as their club. Overwhelming, considering there are two DAP clubs in MA, and 70-90 non DAP clubs in MA.

Expanding the list to all New England states NOT in MA (kids listing a hometown in ME, NH, VT, RI, CT), there are 43 kids. 27 of whom list a DAP team as their club.

There are 5 kids with a hometown in NE that do not list a club team.

I agree with the earlier poster(s) who say that ESPN Rise is not the be all-end all of lists of recruits. There are kids who committed who do not appear on this list. Also, AB (from MA)who is listed as committed to Holy Cross in 2011 is listed as committed to Bryant on the 2010 list with central Catholic as his HS and Stars as his club. So the accuracy of the list could be questioned.

If you simply look at the club teams that these kids listed on the 2010 D1 commit list, the overwhelming majority are DAP clubs. And considering there are only 70 something DAP clubs across the country, the conclusion is that DAP is contributing more D1 players by far.

Have you been following this thread? How much more proof do you need?

Try to follow: There are players going to college to play soccer that did not have to play on a DAP team to be recruited.

stop it!!! We all know that college coaches favor DAP players and teams. Will some pro-DAP person, just please acknowledge that your program is not the only means to an end.

My chilid plays in DAP. While it is the most competitive setting for the local area, it is not the end all or be all. If my son decided the overall travel and committment was too much...he would go to another club (MPS, Blazers, NEFC). He would still play good quality soccer and would most likely go on and play in college.

                        There you go.
A pro DAP person acknowledging there is life outside our "elite" soccer bubble.
                        Happy?

MD has always played SFV (and Suns before the merger became SFV) and TM played Suns U10-12, Bolts U13-15 and SFV U16 and NEFC U17.

Talk about following along? Try to follow your own advice......

The argument/discussion is about one person who claims the DAP players going to schools would have gone to those same schools with or without DAP. He has asked for proof that DAP got them into those schools. I would like proof from this person that shows they would have been admitted to play scoccer at those schools without DAP.

There is absolutely no doubt that kids from non DAP teams get recruited. But your chances of being recruited by more schools, by better schools, and by schools outside the New Engand area significantly increase when playing on a DAP team.

                                How about the following:

For those who believe that DAP is a good thing for their son, for whatever reason, their son should play DAP.

For those who think that playing non DAP is a better option for their son for whatever reason, he should play non DAP.

Then, everyone will be happy and can go find another subject to bash and beat to death!
