Read in some threads that Assumption does not give scholarships. New coach, things must have changed. Not a wheelbarrow of cash but packaged with a good academic scholarship it got us to a umass cost.
I just met someone the ohter day who's yourger brother did just get a substantial amount from Assumption. So things definitely have changed.

Why do people bash someone for posting a committment if that's the point of this thread?

Just guessing, but because it was also posted on the 2010 thread and because there was no need to post about the dollar amount

There is someone who bashes what you just did on both the 2010 and 2011 threads. I don't know why and I don't care. Just ignore the person. Congrats to your son, BTW. I know several players on that team and it looks like a good program and school.

program: 9 out of 14 in the conf, losing record (6-7-2) School: 80 % acceptance rate. (93 % early decision)

good program/school? might want to rethink that...

This is obscene. And exactly why many of us who have kids who qualify for elite NE schools don't want our kids to attend them. Hopefully your kid is not the bubble full of arrogance and snobbery that you are.

This wasn't obscene. It wasn't dishonest either. It was really mean and totally unnecessary. Don't assume it has anything to do with private school or snobbery. Mean comes in all shapes, sizes and income brackets.

You're kidding, right? Or just very gullible and naive? What demographic of people post (and look up to make a stinging point) acceptance rates and early decision acceptance rates? I can't argue you with you, though, on "mean and totally unnecessary." You are wrong about the dishonesty, because a couple of stats were dug up to intentionally create and stir up a distorted negative impression of the school, with implied inferences from the stats to a conclusion about quality of the school. There are many, many people who think the school is indeed a good one.

This is not a competitive school to get into. If that is your prerequisite for "very very good" then this is not a very very good school. This is a nice school that has much to offer and for the right student would be a perfect fit that could change their life for the better. For those kids, and their parents, this is a very very good school. Also, all of these schools, regardless of competitive rankings, have some very, very good teachers, and that is what really matters most of all in education.

Do not even know where to begin. With a 30 year career in the computer industry I had three people out of say 50 that worked for me who stand out because of their poor performance. No amount of hand holding through projects helped. They were graduates of BC, Holy Cross and WPI, I was educated at Worcester State College. My son played in D2 Maple and has played with and against two players frequently during his youth and high school soccer programs. These players Stars of Ma and Seacoast trained, paying big money for promises of D1. One desperately looking for a D3 soccer program to take him after D1 and D2 said no. The other going post grad to buy time to attempt D1 again. My son had 4 D2 NE 10 schools recruiting him. He made the best academic decision he could, the soccer program not near the best he could have chosen in the NE 10. Would have loved it if he could have gone to BC, yes for the academics - BC soccer not possible. So what is the point - I do not have one - except to say I am sure I got less enjoyment from writing this post than you did writing your negative post which must stroke some deficiency in your character or your just a mean sob - just realizing this blog site is not a productive use of my time

it's an average school at best but is suitable for many people and has some good programs. almost all students there receive some financial aide or academic money so it's more affordable than a lot of private colleges. the acceptance rate of 80 % is fact and listed on many sites, showing it isn't very selective. a 6-7-2 soccer team is below average and they didn't make the conf playoffs. there is nothing mean about those facts.

The facts aren't mean. The choice to post them, with no prompt to do so, and right after someone congratulated someone on committing to a good school, was mean, and clearly intended to tweak. Just admit that to yourself and move on.
