Originally posted by Unregistered View Postyou are correct, however, a player may call and the coach may pick up the phone and talk. So, the college coach can initiate thru the club coach and express interest. If interest is both ways, the college coach tells the club to tell the player to call at a certain date /time. Attending camps or clinics is another way that players and coaches may talk.

Originally posted by Unregistered View Postok, so your team's coach is a coach at a college. The coach approaches your child, but the school does not meet the childs needs. (to small, to large, etc..) Are you trying to say that the coach would not pass along inquiries from other schools, that may or may not be on the player's radar, to the player??
Also, these coaches are worried about their schools. They couldn't care less about the kids on their club teams or where they end up. They aren't going to go out of their way to recommend players to other coaches for fear of being wrong and losing credibility. As with most things, they will tell you what they think you want to hear.

Had my son listened to his prominent college-employed club coach, he would not be at the school he's at today where he just finished a great first season. Yes, we fell for the "college coach" advantage of the club. We bought it hook, line, and sinker.
