you are correct, however, a player may call and the coach may pick up the phone and talk. So, the college coach can initiate thru the club coach and express interest. If interest is both ways, the college coach tells the club to tell the player to call at a certain date /time. Attending camps or clinics is another way that players and coaches may talk.

Yeah, and sometimes it slips the club coaches' mind for a month (not his primary job), or better yet, the best clubs have a direct affiliation with BC/BU/NE/PC/UNH/FP, so what happens if the enemy coach makes an inquiry? A little messy, I think. Love that ESPN Rise.

it's not "messy," it's reality, so deal with it. a club coach getting players from his academy team happens everywhere so there is obviously nothing wrong with it. you should tell the ncaa to start an investigation if you don't like it instead of crying about it on this forum.

ok, so your team's coach is a coach at a college. The coach approaches your child, but the school does not meet the childs needs. (to small, to large, etc..) Are you trying to say that the coach would not pass along inquiries from other schools, that may or may not be on the player's radar, to the player??

Look, this college coach at club thing is a joke. The coach picks off the players he wants from his club. That means that other college coaches are left to wonder why a staff of coaches from a number of area colleges haven't snagged the player. It's almost like putting a black cloud over a kid.

Also, these coaches are worried about their schools. They couldn't care less about the kids on their club teams or where they end up. They aren't going to go out of their way to recommend players to other coaches for fear of being wrong and losing credibility. As with most things, they will tell you what they think you want to hear.

There is an element of truth in this statement. You have to sift through the "smokescreen" and constantly follow up--very rarely do you get the full and honest truth.

And some actually flat-out lie to their club players. they promose "help", "guidance", etc, and then when you seel it, they don't want to be bothered, critisize your school choices, and offer nothing constructive in terms of advice or feedback.

Had my son listened to his prominent college-employed club coach, he would not be at the school he's at today where he just finished a great first season. Yes, we fell for the "college coach" advantage of the club. We bought it hook, line, and sinker.
