Dude, I was raised in the poorest neighborhoods in my home town. My family didn't have two nickels to rub together most of the time. I've done my fair share of cleaning up needles and shell casings around my house and in the park where I had to stand over my sisters to make sure they could play safely.

I attended the sister of my murdered sister. Snatched off the streets, likely raped. Beaten and left with her head crushed up against a tree.

Yeah, my house is OK (not exactly a reflection of wealth here). My neighborhood is working class folk, seniors. Most like me. I'm proud to be here because I know how hard I worked to get away from that and to ensure my kids had a better leg to start on than me.

I certainly hope you find yourself able to do the same for your kids.

But your machismo attitude might get in the way, eh?

Nancy Pelosi stood for 8 hours in Congress to talk crap regarding the rights of illegals to stay.

She couldn't stand up for 10 seconds during the State of the Union address for American citizens.

        It's not a good analogy.

If you don't think there's a gun problem in this country, I don't know what to tell you.
Gun industry also thinks we are idiots and cannot differentiate between assault rifles and hunting rifles as if they are the same.

People drive cars not tanks. No one is allowed to go out and buy and drive a tank around drunk or not. Assault rifles were outlawed for years and the world continued to spin just fine.

Yes, Republicans were all about standing up and clapping during Obama's state of the union addresses.

She sat for American citizens like me that would vote her out for giving his un-american policies her blessing.

Karina Baltazar says she can’t afford to go to college.

She doesn’t qualify for financial aid even though her mother has been paying property, sales and gas taxes in the state for the last 18 years.

                Baltazar is an undocumented immigrant.

“I do want to attend college,” Baltazar, who was brought to Danbury from Mexico just before she turned a year old, testified to the legislature’s Higher Education Committee in March. “I’ve struggled in paying for college, which set me back in applying.”

Baltazer is not alone. Hundreds of undocumented youths and their friends testified that the $4,200 annual price tag to attend a community college and $18,000 to attend the University of Connecticut has put college out of reach.

But after a 90-minute debate Wednesday, the state Senate voted 21 to 13 along mostly partisan lines to approve a bill that would make undocumented immigrants eligible to compete for a $140 million pool of financial aid beginning with the next school year.

“To be turned away because they don’t have access to financial aid, it’s just plain wrong,” said Sen. Mae Flexer, D-Killingly

The legislature's Higher Education Committee heard hours of testimony Tuesday, in support of allowing undocumented students to access financial aid at state colleges.

Next time you answer, do some research first.

All students at state colleges, no matter their citizenship status, must pay a portion of their tuition into the college’s own financial aid system. But those who are undocumented can’t apply for that institutional aid.

A bill, HB 5031, before the legislature this session would change that.

Hazel Mencos, a 16-year-old student at Wilbur Cross High School spoke in favor of the legislation. She spoke of crossing the border as an unaccompanied child three year ago, fleeing violence in her native Guatemala. "Many, many children in other countries want to go to college, and they can't go," she said. "HB5031 will be one of the things that will help me a lot in the trajectory of my education in this country."

Kaley Lentini of the American Civil Liberties Union called the current barrier to financial aid unjust and wrong. "By placing an unequal financial burden on both undocumented students and their families, Connecticut is hamstringing itself and its future," she said. "They offer talents and skills that Connecticut should encourage and seek to benefit from."

Questioned by the committee about whether the state could face a lawsuit on equal protection grounds, Lentini said that such suits have been brought in other states, notably Texas.
I didn't make the statement, thus, I have no obligation to prove it to be true. That belongs to the person who used the numbers to attempt to make his point. You offer numbers to justify your position? You should back it up with a reference or link so we can believe you.

As for the anecdotal situation you raise here, it all begins with the fact that this person was brought here as a child, without any say in the matter, and then raised here. I recognize the person is still illegal, but they had no choice in that and now, they should be punished for simply being raised in this country? Sorry, my compassion as an American to do what is right for those deserving fairness takes over. There are plenty of illegals that need to be found and deported. Kids like these are not in that group. We just need to do what's right by them as we solve this immigration morass.

She is most certainly not obligated to stand up and clap for Dt anymore then she or any representative was obligated to stand and clap for BO.

You can find that obligatory standing in plenty of other regimes on earth if you want.

It is costing CT One Billon dollars a year for illegals in this state. Don't believe me? Do the research. That's what I do . You have to flesh it out, Dems want to keep it a secret.

Morally you may have a point. But morality doesn't replace laws on the books. " Fairness " is an elusive concept.

To help solve the Immigration mess, we must take away the incentive to enter here illegally, something Dems are not doing, and won't support. They want to lay out he welcome mat. Immigration resolution begins with enforcing existing Laws. The more we enforce them, and the less incentives there are to sneak in, the closer we can get to solving the problem.
