So, if they want to give the same rights to citizens, and then take away rights from the citizens and the illegal immigrants you claim we just have those rights to, then aren't we taking the rights back from all of them?

I mean, if we give the rights to the illegals and then take them away, then isn't everyone losing the same rights? Or if we take away the rights of the citizens and then give them to the illegals, aren't they still having the same rights, one way or the other?

Shades of Raising Arizona here, dude.

How is that better for all of us?

"progressive Dems are in the Legislature asking for illegal College students to have access to the same financial aid opportunities as American citizens." - Not a very accurate statement because it's too broad in context. But then, that's the approach people use when they want to inflame a reaction, rather than speak to the specifics of the issue.

How about the alternative that pulls the millions of dollars we are throwing away in Afghanistan and Iraq and pointing them to our infrastructure challenges? How about taking the $18 billion asked for a "wall" and put that to roads and bridges instead?

I mean, do Americans really think a physical "wall" will solve the illegal immigration issue? Again, the facts clearly show that most illegals enter the country on ships and planes these days. Been true for quite some time now. All the wall represents is an $18 billion visible monument to Donald Trump. I'm sure he'll sit there and admire it for years, if it ever gets built. It's important to him, because there will be no monuments built for him on the National Mall in DC.

You know, Hadrian built a wall once too. Didn't work for him very well.
Im not a fan of the Wall and yes its a legacy for him......but other measures im in for.
Again Illegal immigration is HUGE in this country i dont even think the Govt really knows how many are here illegal.....its a number that might blow everyone away if we could find out.
Id first start to focus on every shady or legal business that employs such workers ...Restaurants, Lawn care Businesses, Car washes , Grocery Stores etc etc...I wouldn't hall them in unless upon immediate verification there were no Immigration holds from past.
Some illegals have been previously deported, those i would arrest ASAP.
The others i would finger print and Picture , keep a profile on file We'll get back to them when we've finally weeded out the bad Hombres.

The data is available if you look for it. Just think of the financial cost to the state to administer the programs that cater to illegals. Think about the jobs that they take away from legal citizens. Think about the cost to house the criminal element. The list goes on and on. I am not going to do your homework for you.

Karina Baltazar says she can’t afford to go to college.

She doesn’t qualify for financial aid even though her mother has been paying property, sales and gas taxes in the state for the last 18 years.

                    Baltazar is an undocumented immigrant.

“I do want to attend college,” Baltazar, who was brought to Danbury from Mexico just before she turned a year old, testified to the legislature’s Higher Education Committee in March. “I’ve struggled in paying for college, which set me back in applying.”

Baltazer is not alone. Hundreds of undocumented youths and their friends testified that the $4,200 annual price tag to attend a community college and $18,000 to attend the University of Connecticut has put college out of reach.

But after a 90-minute debate Wednesday, the state Senate voted 21 to 13 along mostly partisan lines to approve a bill that would make undocumented immigrants eligible to compete for a $140 million pool of financial aid beginning with the next school year.

“To be turned away because they don’t have access to financial aid, it’s just plain wrong,” said Sen. Mae Flexer, D-Killingly

The legislature's Higher Education Committee heard hours of testimony Tuesday, in support of allowing undocumented students to access financial aid at state colleges.

Next time you answer, do some research first.

All students at state colleges, no matter their citizenship status, must pay a portion of their tuition into the college’s own financial aid system. But those who are undocumented can’t apply for that institutional aid.

A bill, HB 5031, before the legislature this session would change that.

Hazel Mencos, a 16-year-old student at Wilbur Cross High School spoke in favor of the legislation. She spoke of crossing the border as an unaccompanied child three year ago, fleeing violence in her native Guatemala. "Many, many children in other countries want to go to college, and they can't go," she said. "HB5031 will be one of the things that will help me a lot in the trajectory of my education in this country."

Kaley Lentini of the American Civil Liberties Union called the current barrier to financial aid unjust and wrong. "By placing an unequal financial burden on both undocumented students and their families, Connecticut is hamstringing itself and its future," she said. "They offer talents and skills that Connecticut should encourage and seek to benefit from."

Questioned by the committee about whether the state could face a lawsuit on equal protection grounds, Lentini said that such suits have been brought in other states, notably Texas.

So many signs that the Florida shooter was mentally disturbed, even expelled from school for bad and erratic behavior. Neighbors and classmates knew he was a big problem. Must always report such instances to authorities, again and again!

Peoples lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation. Some are true and some are false. Some are old and some are new. There is no recovery for someone falsely accused - life and career are gone. Is there no such thing any longer as Due Process?

Here's more for the Welcome mat for illegals. Keep voting for Dems, they are out to dismantle the fabric of the country, piece by piece.

A series of changes have been made over the last five years to help lower college costs for undocumented students. In 2011, state law was changed so that undocumented students who attended all four years of high school in Connecticut qualified for the much lower in-state tuition rates at public colleges. Last year the law was changed to lower the requirement to two years of high school. Just under 100 students currently benefit from these lower tuition rates at UConn.

Sen. Paul Doyle of Wethersfield was the only Democrat to join Republicans in voting against the bill. Sen. Clark Chapin of New Milford was the only Republican to vote for the legislation. Two senators missed the vote; Sen. Kevin Kelly, R-Stratford, and Sen. Art Linares, R-Westbrook.

Six states — California, Minnesota, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas and Washington — have changed their laws to allow undocumented students to receive state financial aid, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
