Chances are Lamont is tossing out generic political speak about how he really hopes we can have a football season while thinking of other ways he can mandate and encourage everyone to hide in their basements until 2023.

And the saga continues with CT Football, the CIAC gives DPH new strategies to review. No decision made yet.

It is a shame they keep jerking the kids around.

Several states are two to 4 weeks into playing HS football right now with no spike in Covid cases. Numbers for CT are very low. Lamont scheduled a meeting for the CIAC & DPH on Friday but did not attend himself. Players gathered at state Capitol in Hartford last week and will do it again if the DPH does not change their stance.

Better is stop jerking everyone around. Make a call and stick to it. I also think the football risk is lower than some think, but at this point there would barely be a season.

Lamont had to do something, wasn't gonna snub the speaker of the Connecticut House of Representatives and Berlin High head football coach Joe Aresimowicz.

So there was one last shot today at DPH, CIAC plan A play now is promise of tons of sport specific PPE and reduced spectatorship. Plan's B and C (if at all) are spring later or 7v7 now. Spring is too late for some to cut tape for recruitment or get any late scouting and plan C leaves too many left out.

I feel for the kids, I really do. I hope they get to play. But the state and districts don't care that a few players can't film recruiting videos.

That isn’t football. It would be the equivalent of the saying HS soccer is moved indoors in the winter and will be 3v3

Lamont didn’t have a full day of mtgs. He could have made time. Hs kids don’t vote, he just didn’t care. More downside for him when he gets heckled. Please with the speaker. Lamont hasn’t passed any good legislation anyway. One and done useless democrat, hanging on to his pandemic powers.

Yeah its a shame, not even two weeks in and already temp closings in a half dozen towns schools last week. Meanwhile the lucky ones like soccer, cross country, volleyball etc. are quietly moving on in small cohorts and many carpools cause their not in person all week same days.

Actually the equivalent would be saying soccer is 7v7 right?

                            Today’s Update

DPH does not support Fall football and reiterates no scientific evidence to determine the effectiveness of plastic face shields. DPH repeats narrative of moving “high risk” ie football to a later safer time period.

No as in 7v7 football how you play the game is fundamentally different

Positivity rate over 1% and steadily increasing. Hospitalizations increasing as well. Another week or 2 now that schools are back, both of these numbers will skyrocket
