email from earlier today, FYI
All Oakwood SC Boys & Girls Teams, u9 thru u19, are starting pre-season very soon. If you would kike to be invited to a training session
and are born between 2014 and 2003 and are motivated to play to a high level: email rick.derella@oakwoodsoccer.com to get an invite to a training session in late August at Oakwood Soccer Park, Portland. Most Oakwood teams are still adding players for this fall.

We promised great training and some games, but the games aren't happening and once checks have cleared, we dont care about these ages and very few "practices" will happen either. Go back to your Class S schools and JV teams until January ... see you then.

Compare with other clubs that have an A, B and C team, if you take everyone you always have enough.

Or is OW now THAT bad? Teams don't cut dead weight if they are paying dead weight in the HOPE to backfill for them in freaking August. None of this makes sense.

MLS Next is boys. If you're good enough for MLSN you're probably going to stay with OW, unless you're getting not PT in which case FSA Boys might make more sense. That said, not all boys want to give up HS for an OW experience. They're not all top players so FSA ECNL boys is an option.
GAL is girls. GAL isn't very good competition, ECNL is but not at FSA. ECLR is pretty mediocre, even worse at FSA. Leaving OW makes little sense for that.

Yes, I get that. Missing the HS experience for a poorly performing MLSN team is a hard thing to sell. But still... if you're in the top 15 HS age players within an hour of OW... I don't know. If this conversation is based on truth, it's still pretty surprising they're seeking players in August. Then again, maybe it's because they CAN do that whereas other clubs can't. Hm. maybe I'll go watch them play next month to see their level vs. others I'm more familiar with.
