Wow, it’s actually true. What happened to HA? Would love to get the scoop on what went down at OW for him to be reduced to that!

      email from earlier today, FYI

All Oakwood SC Boys & Girls Teams, u9 thru u19, are starting pre-season very soon. If you would kike to be invited to a training session
and are born between 2014 and 2003 and are motivated to play to a high level: email rick.derella@oakwoodsoccer.com to get an invite to a training session in late August at Oakwood Soccer Park, Portland. Most Oakwood teams are still adding players for this fall.

It is sad. What’s sadder is the guy who feels the need to go through the entire FSA site to check out the coaches. Just weird.

I believe that preseason is for U9-U14 Boys and girls, U15-U19 boys, and then U15-U19 girls who cant make their varsity teams will have a few get togethers between now the middle of November when the good players return. We promised great training and some games, but the games aren't happening and once checks have cleared, we dont care about these ages and very few "practices" will happen either. Go back to your Class S schools and JV teams until January ... see you then.

ummm, no, these are the DA and MLS Next Teams where the players don't play High School- The season is 10 months long and starts in a few weeks- and they don't apparently have enough players.

This happens every year. U11 and up, they cut the dead weight and add where they can. Sometimes that means slim rosters and playing a few games a weekend.

Compare with other clubs that have an A, B and C team, if you take everyone you always have enough.

Why would they leave to go play for FSA regional teams? Makes zero sense.

I'm trying to wrap my head around this. MLS Next is supposedly THE place to be. With plenty of ECNL kids around from FSA and CFC, many of which are tired of driving to Bethany, wouldn't there be a line out the door to roster on an MLS Next team?

Or is OW now THAT bad? Teams don't cut dead weight if they are paying dead weight in the HOPE to backfill for them in freaking August. None of this makes sense.

First of all, GAL ain't all that. If they're good then ok ECNL, but not all GAL or OW players are ECNL level, more ECLR level. A patch doesn't guarantee anything. Hopefully FSA didn't promise them the possibility of moving up because they don't do that often.

MLS Next is boys. If you're good enough for MLSN you're probably going to stay with OW, unless you're getting not PT in which case FSA Boys might make more sense. That said, not all boys want to give up HS for an OW experience. They're not all top players so FSA ECNL boys is an option.

GAL is girls. GAL isn't very good competition, ECNL is but not at FSA. ECLR is pretty mediocre, even worse at FSA. Leaving OW makes little sense for that.

Yes, I get that. Missing the HS experience for a poorly performing MLSN team is a hard thing to sell. But still... if you're in the top 15 HS age players within an hour of OW... I don't know. If this conversation is based on truth, it's still pretty surprising they're seeking players in August. Then again, maybe it's because they CAN do that whereas other clubs can't. Hm. maybe I'll go watch them play next month to see their level vs. others I'm more familiar with.

I don't know - I think post Covid some families are re-evaluating their priorities and finances. Many clubs will still take a player or two this late - a check is a check after all - even before Covid.

Not weird at all. Two clicks and you can see MC on the coaching staff. That's a huge addition for FSA. They've been adding some solid additions with SD and now MC a big jump in credibility for FSA.
