GAL already allows HS play, but clubs that allowed it found out the hard way that you can't be all things to all people. If you don't have enough players in the HS season for league games, you either play badly weakened or have to move all your league games. Jamming all the games further into the year means playing two a weekend often times which goes against the 1/week rule

if they allow HS ow will attract more talented players on the girls side then the group of B teamers they have now at all ages. its the premium soccer model of "warm body and cashed check" that gets you on a team now on the girls side.

Yeah, game changer .... It will at least allow them to put their best talent onto a single team ..... They have so many kids there that declined GA team and play on the EDP one so they can play HS that their B teams are nearly as good as their A teams ..... If not better in some cases.

GA, with or without HS, will not attract anyone. They do not have a great league, coaches, or prices. We aren't at oakwood from 15 years ago Toto.

I have player in college that came up through ECNL and another daughter coming into these critical years now. Looking the college rosters (especially D1) it's largely ECNL kids even at the mid majors. That said, it's not a closed system. Oakwood kids can get plenty of looks if GAL has recruiting events and attend things like Jeff Cup.

The no high school rule immediately takes out a highly competitive faction of kids and leaves with others that otherwise wouldn't be on a top club team. Looking at OW's commitments, it definitely plays out. Lots of crummy D2 schools that kids can get recruited from second tier club teams. Definitely not the desired outcome for years of sacrifice.

They will not attract any talented girls; why would they?

They still have coaching issues and the league still blows.

Not everyone is cut out for or wants ECNL. Removing the HS rule makes this a viable option in this part of CT. Decent coaching and culture. Good facilities. Reasonable league and recruiting opportunity.

ECNL is clearly the gold standard but only 11 player see the field at a time.

The culture is part of the issue

GAL needs to suck it up and go to a 6-7 month season like ECNL. They wanted to keep 10 months so they could justify not lowering fees. It is a joke. Lower the fees and do 7 months like everyone else and maybe the league can survive.

what people don't understand the GAL was never created to be a 10 month league. GAL always allowed players to play HS soccer, its the clubs choice to have a 10 month program or not. ow chose the 10 month program route, unfortunately all the other clubs in the Northeast division decided to let their players play HS soccer therefore leaving OW holding an empty bag and having no teams to play in the fall season.
