Are there really parents that drive from Mass to play GA? Why would you drive to Oakwood when you have ECNL in your backyard and Mass teams that crush Oakwood in the GA.

Maybe the player would have limited playing time locally, and the club in MA provides better opportunity?

I can tell you first hand that the two from FC Stars won’t last. Decent players locally but not National Team material.

Having been through this a while, I’d say there is a lot more than just soccer ability that goes into these selections. Tons of politics at many levels goes into this stuff and honestly, it isn’t always the best kids going. My kid was not the victim as she is really good but I never thought of her as NT. I have seen some really good kids get totally screwed over though. I wouldn’t say it’s an indictment of CT players as much as that CT doesn’t have powerful clubs.

I would go to the club that appreciates my kids talent and potential for further development, and she gets to play a lot. Isn't that what it's all about?

Fit matters most, including PT. But some clubs over-promise and exaggerate just how interested they are in a player. Buyer beware.

Politics can happen but not nearly as often as some think. The cream usually rises to the top over time. Camps are littered with one and dones.

no MA players drive to OW. its the other way around, former CT ow players drive crazy hours out of state to play in MA and NJ. chasing their daddy's wet dream

With all due respect, they're not. Really solid players, but there are lots of really solid players. That being said, I think this round focused more on the 2005s. Every player that my kid knows (there are quite a few) is a 2005.

Yes this is the U17 camp from U16 (2005) selections.
