Are you sure about the good training on the girls side? That's not what I heard.

Yankee star came from BS and the top two BS girls joined CFC United. South Central lost its best players to CFC United. Once a club can't retain top players, it either accepts that it's a feeder for other clubs or goes under. Personally, I think BS should merge with Yankee. BS has a strong Boys program and Yankee has NPL on the Girls' side. They could use the combined entity to leverage getting into top tournaments the way other clubs do and maybe attract and retain players.

What did you hear exactly? I have watched some of the training sessions - they are very organized, fast moving and intense. If you go there and put the work in you will become a better soccer player....but if you become too good, you are better off eventually moving to ECNL or GDA for the best competition. I don't think BS would begrudge a top player from making such a move. In fact, if they are successfully placing players to higher level clubs on a consistent basis it must mean good things are being taught at BS in the development years.

They need GDA to have any hope in retaining talent. No more room in CT for another ECNL program, so BS has very limited options. Merging with Yankee, as suggested earlier, does not really get them much higher on the totem pole in CT girls soccer. NPL will soon be tier 3 level once GDA kicks in.

MK and WM would be like fire and gasoline.

You just don't know anything, do you? You watched some of their training? You brought binoculars? You think they don't begrudge players leaving? You base this on what? Your tracking stupidity?

Oh no. They most desperately want to keep them. They just can't. They either need to resign themselves to feeder status or somehow get a higher level badge. MK has proven himself to be pretty clevery amd has pulled off some surprising moves

Lol I think a few years ago MK wouldn't let players finish the season (or state cup? ) when he found out they were leaving. Wouldn't begrudge....

I have an older daughter and we are relatively new to the area (Fairfield County). I see that BS fields two older age group girls teams, and some u-littles. Do the older girls get any college recruiting interest? What level? I checked their website and I do not see a lot of girls sounding names on the commitment lists that they show.

My daughter is not likely ECNL or GDA material.....what are her options?

OP: By way of background, we moved up from Raleigh over the winter and my daughter is entering 8th grade. She played at CASL, but I don't feel she was on track to make the ECNL team there.

That is what they would all like your to believe Don't believe the hype. If your kid can play, she can play. Try it and find out for yourself. Perhaps she isn't good enough but perhaps she is. She still may not crack a roster, but you will have a good idea for yourself. If you are going to pay ridiculous money for her to train then you might as well start shooting for the top and settle where you will.

BS girls program is still a work in progress. They have no team for her age group right now despite years of trying. Next year who knows; maybe they'll cobble it together. For NPL (the next level down from ECNL) the options would be Yankee United or CFC's United NPL team. Next step down from that is CT Rush, Everton America, CFC Arsenal, AC Connecticut. Beyond that you'll have to start doing a lot of driving. I won't make comments on quality. Best bet is to contact clubs now and ask to attend a few practices. Then you can watch the coaches and see what the training and skill level is like.

If you don't know already (assuming your D is planning on playing in high school, even if JV) but in CT HS players are not allowed to play club while HS soccer is in season. You literally can't step on your club field until your HS team is done for the season, including playoffs. As such some clubs still hold another round of tryouts in November once HS is done to help fill in inevitable gaps. The better teams will be filled already.
