In other words what they already cobbled together for this year. No new teams and no 02 03 or 04 teams.

Wrong. This year they fielded 3 younger age teams and 2 senior. Next year they expect to field 4 younger and 2 senior.

Beachside SC lacks gender balance. BS started as a boys program back in the day and then added teams for girls about 10 years later. The club had balance as both the boys and girls teams were designated "premier" and treated equally within the organization.

Subsequently, boys DA was awarded (taken over from SCP) to BS and that is when the club lost the balance between the boys and girls programs. BS runs both DA and Premier teams for boys, and only Premier for girls. Whereas the boys DA offers the highest competitive level for boys, they never came up with a comparable high level offering for girls. Thus the problem and explanation for the lack of a prominent and stable girls program.

BS's messaging is dominated by boys DA as it is the crown jewel of their portfolio (rightly so). The remaining teams (boys and girls Premier) are BS Version 1.0 and are treated as such.

I also remember, back in the day, that they wouldn't field teams in age groups that didn't have enough quality players trying out. That seems to have changed.

              BS DA = highest priority.

BS Boys and Girls Premier = filler.

Who do you think is going to pay for the new facility?

                    Interesting and thoughtful perspective.

I note that both FSA and CFCU have added boys ECNL this year to counterbalance their girls ECNL offerings. OW too has added girls DA this year to counterbalance their boys DA. Good moves to keep both genders level at each respective club.

Agreed! it's a shame because not fielding teams just for the $$ was a very respectable quality about BS. I guess at some point despite the best intentions club owners can't resist taking advantage of the situation.

The problem is that if BS ran a better program, they could easily be the best-funded program in the state and not need to fill teams just for the money. The club currently has parents who are some of the wealthiest Wall Street/Hedge Fund dudes around. The silly banquet they hold is nothing compared to what the club can do if they convince John Doe to write a check big enough to call the new facility The John Doe Soccer Center. Unfortunately, the parents like that their kids play BS but dislike Mickey to the point that nobody will consider a big check. There are also a number of parents who are senior marketing execs (including at least 2 CMOs of large companies) who can easily bring their company in for sponsorships.

FSA and CFCU didn't magically add boys ECNL. A new boys league was started and they got in because of their girls ECNL teams

It wasn't a strategic move made independently but rather because of their commitments to ECNL. Furthermore the boys teams already existed and weren't started from scratch.

You could say the same thing about Girls DAP at OW. Although arguably they went through a stronger vetting process.

BS will have a much harder time elevating their girls and boys premier than any of the other clubs. BS faces cultural and soccer landscape impediments in elevating their girls and boys premier clubs.

The point of my post was about having the right balance between boys and girls soccer programs within a club. Without this balance you have a bad situation on your hands as one side is getting more attention/preferential treatment over the other. BS has boys DA as the "favorite" child.

OW, CFCU and FSA have the balance right as all offer high/equal level leagues for both genders.

They've had wall street and business titans there for years. He could have gotten help with a facility 10-15-20 years ago. But he's such a nice chap, decent fellow that it never quite worked out. Cough, cough.
