Bernie playing chess while everyone else plays checkers. He won’t give up the XF brand for the club, but rebranding this event makes a lot of sense. People will flock to it, colleges want to see nw players, and merchandise will sell at 10x the amount of something that says “crossfire”. Any money he gives surf for this, he will make up 3-4 fold. I don’t have a dog in the fight, but this is fantastic.

Who is going to flock there? The big clubs are doing their own thing with the sounders, so are you talking about Walnut Creek surf or the team from BC? Either way is gonna be when one of those teams goes to best of best in California and gets their ass kicked. Its the weekend before the actual Surf Cup, and two weeks before ecnl playoffs. If its a record number of teams, they will be crap teams. As far as college coaches- most coaches already have plans- you realize this is prime time for college recruiting?

Struggling? You win every top division final in the state for the boys and girls except one at the youngers does not sound like struggling to me. The one final they did not win was harbor so where is the so call other big clubs oh harbor ?

Financially XF has real issues. They have cut back on practices, funding for teams every good coach has bailed over the last 4 years they have to overpay coaches, prioritize side deals.

If anyone doesn’t think the lawsuit and surrounding bad press hasn’t severely damaged the XF “brand”they are the real idiots.
