Comparing westside to the Lakers and Celtics. Classic. If it makes you feel better then that is great. Westside hasn't shown anything substantial for years. We will see though. Next year. Thats what the Cowboys say every year. "we are going to win it all" then end up on the outside looking in.

While I enjoy the comic relief that the resident Westside Honk on this forum ALWAYS PROVIDES, I would suggest to everybody to.stop trying to change their mind. It will not work. Like a grandparent stuck in the past "I used to have to walk 10 miles, one way, barefoot, uphill to school, every day" their narrative is exaggerated and lost in time. It does not hurt anybody to let them keep believing they are relevant. In fact, it is an act of kindness to these poor, old, misguided souls....they have nothing left. Just...smile, nod and keep moving past the absurdity they spew on here. We are all better for it.

Westside is a good club. Not dominate. Oregon in general is heavily diluted market- just watch any Premier level game from most age groups and you see this. Any given year any club can do well in league. Once in a while you will see a group of boys "unite" on a certain team and really do well. In all seriousness this is a good thing. Gives them a fighting chance with good out of state games.

As for the EAL- this is the first year for the pacific west and the teams from Oregon are par for the course for top level clubs here. Not special. Average. The Boise Timbers and 3 Washington teams are very average to below average in their own league so we can not say this is in any way an elite league. But it should be competitive and fun for some teams to travel, bond and play teams other than those they have played against so many times before. Will be interested to see if there is growth in the league or see if it fizzles out.

I get EAL has fans and detractors- I see both sides- Our team is in it. We will see how it goes and if we like it will stay on this club next year. If it is a sham and not worth it we will change teams. Our decision.

Gunna be straight with you here, there is no club you can name in Oregon---yet--- that is even in the same conversation of Westside Timbers in terms of on the field Achievement & player placement (college & pros) in the last decade-Period. But as you mention the PDX club dilution trend (pandemic/travel congestion & failed mini DA) throw in the TA's annual incision into the local market's top talent pool things are very blah...

It's worth noting that 'x 'club might approach the Westside standard of achievement for a season or two based on recruiting efforts in the youngest little kiddo kid, see ADF as a recent example, now the slumping big time, not a sustainable model or product

It's been demonstrated that Westside is where the most talented and dominate boys wind up at u17 and above, that's not yesterday's news that's how it is.

The EAL is a nonstarter of a topic. As of today it's simply friendly club exchange play dates. I believe the detraction comes from 'spin' that it's something else, like a laughably coined ELITE ACADEMY LEAGUE. Maybe someday.

It would be nice if any club could become as dominate as WST and take the mantle from them, dilution is not that solution--sadly it just makes Salem relevant which is even more laughable than the EAL.

Winning is nothing new at Westside, it's business as usual--year in and year out.

For UPDX & Cap it's something that has never happened in their history or in CFC's case a once in 2 or 3 years rarity.

I remember the year the Dallas Mavericks won the NBA title & the year the Trailblazers won it all as well. Those 2 teams are just so much better than any era of the Lakers or Celtics or Bulls championship teams. Deal with it.

Lost in all of this nonsensical banter, remember if Salem is relevant that tells you the Portland club market is so diluted it's beyond an embarrassment.

What are we supposed to be seeing here? I know throughout the years, Westside loves to run out #'s of all the "State Championships" they have won. But, all I see here is diminishing returns. The WST #'s are decreasing each year, right? Also, correct me if I am wrong but...doesn't 5+2+2 = 9? No worries though, I understand math can be tricky when you are dealing with multiples. As always, thanks for the laugh. You have no idea how much I enjoy your pathetic attempts to defend the Metros. All I have to do is say one word, and like a toddler at nap time, you fall over yourself making protests. Classic.
