The two top leagues around here are MLS Next and BECNL. This EAL could actually be softer than OYSA in most age groups and OYSA is terrible!

EAL teams are not doing bad in the state cup. UPDX, Cap Timbers and OPFC have all had some successes. But very comparable to other top teams. Cant say that ADF, Westside, Eastside, Eugene, etc have done better. Goes to show that none of these programs are better than the other overall.
Will be interesting to see if there are shifts towards or away from these three because of the EAL factor.

Back to the bigger picture narrative.
CU, FC & WT Thorns have gutted nearly all of the metro elite female players from OYSA landscape & Timbers Youth Academy has taken any male phenom game changers out of the HS aged club leagues. Now throw in a global pandemic which has made the idea of switching clubs a complete nonstarter.
Metro Soccer parents (consumers) are beginning to wise up & realize all of these clubs coaching staff look as average & stale as the next one.
The 'proximity' of where you live in relation to 'x' club is the engine that drives our local diluted, parity party.
With all these things at play it tells you what local clubs with high staff payrolls must to do to keep their soccer bums paid---'player retention', 'player retention' & even more 'player retention'.
It's not easy keeping this con man's dream alive, you try to sell nothing of value or substance at elite prices, see how well you do.
Now it follows the EAL is yet another sad byproduct of the area wide scam with the local grifters again trying to sell you these nothing sandwiches for the price of bone-in dry aged Filet Mignon, with the promise it's the best steak you have ever tasted.
t's a beautiful thing....watching them pivot...can't wait for the next innovative scheme they cook up.

UPDX won U14 and are in the finals at U15, U16, U17
Name any other team that is close to this.

UPDX is excited since they got their 1st OYSA title ever in club history, on the other hand the prolific clubs are in the hundreds of club state cup title count some years these clubs have up to a dozen title and other they have a slow years of 3 to 5 titles. No club in Oregon has so few titles as UPDX prior to 2020 (zero), i... is another way to state reality that provides perspective.

I've never heard mention of the U PDX club and the collection of state titles in the same sentence over the last 40 years, but I have heard of a band called the Proclaimers and their one hit wonder song..."I would walk 500 miles"....which seems to be the number of texts BM sends out daily in his efforts to solicit local area minors to his culture club.... Also, I realize no one cares about the Proclaimers or U PDX this year or in any future years. No one can dispute that.

For UPDX & Cap it's something that has never happened in their history or in CFC's case a once in 2 or 3 years rarity.
I remember the year the Dallas Mavericks won the NBA title & the year the Trailblazers won it all as well. Those 2 teams are just so much better than any era of the Lakers or Celtics or Bulls championship teams. Deal with it.
Lost in all of this nonsensical banter, remember if Salem is relevant that tells you the Portland club market is so diluted it's beyond an embarrassment.

Juice Box League
I heard they are changing the name of this league to the Juice Box league, because everyone will get a trophy and juice box just for signing up for the Elite Academy League.
