Coming to a city near you the Girls Supper Duper League, the GSDL (catchy isn't it)

In this new league there will be no home games to ensure more travel and cost.

These additional fees will ensure an exclusion group. No longer will the OYSA'ers GDA'ers or even the ECNL'ers will be able to player our members. We will be able to claim dormancy over every league in the country.

Player profile, no less than a dual parent 6 figure income with a parents willing to spend 35% of the families disposable income on soccer.
Did you mean “Girls Super Duper League” because you typed “Girls Supper Duper League”. That extra letter ‘P’ really changes the scope of this new league.

FC You had to ask about fees, Ha!

It's too bad these posts always dissolve into put-down contests. So lame. Yes the soccer culture is difficult in OR. There are not many options and when the landscape changes there's good and bad in it. If you don't like it, who cares? Don't put your kid in that program. If you feel the need to comment, why not be objective so that people might consider your opinions? So lame.

Totally agree with this. I came to this forum looking for information, but I've been amazed by how immature the discourse is. Most of our kids show greater integrity than that shown in many of these threads/posts that presumably are written by adults.

You innocently came her for information, but now you know.
Coming here for information is like going down to a shady bar in Gresham and looking for a wife by getting phone numbers off the bathroom stall wall.
Anonymous chat boards don't bring out the best in people.

                Results from the weekend

While the ECNL and OYSA were unable to play due to snow the Super Duper League was able to play its full schedule in its under ground lair that only the your Super Duper League eye scan will allow you to enter. All parents received a hot beverage of their choice. All the games ended in a tie, that way everyone is super duper.

                Have a super duper day.

In all seriousness though, why would any good player with a smart parent choose to play in a ECNL leftovers league? There are currently three ECNL clubs there must be room for more players or better players. What am I missing? What’s the GAL draw???

Oh and what happened to Laura Schott? Is she out of Thorns now too?

The draw is having a local or more local opportunity to play in national showcases to get more exposure to college. Most of the clubs that joined GAL wouldn’t qualify to join ECNL so GAL is a great opportunity.

LOL! so if you can’t make one of the three ECNL teams go the GAL route. Got it.

Our local club is too small to get ecnl and too far away for most to travel to play on an ecnl team. At a few age groups we have very competitive teams that do travel to the usual big out of state tournaments. There is exposure there but not nearly what GAL gets. Now our teams will get to attend national Gal tournaments and get more exposure. Our teams will also get to play some new to us teams in the Gal NW league. Tired of the same teams over and over since u10. There still may be a few who travel to play with an ECNL team but the club as a whole is looking forward to more opportunities. If nothing else, it will be fun to have a change. Also tired of the the same old Vegas tourneys, the Clash and the like.

Just because something is a notch down from ECNL, doesn’t mean it can’t be a good thing for many players.

The draw is that if kids at the GA clubs in the area think they are getting better coaching, a better style of play, or a better fit for them than they’d get at one of the ECNL clubs, GA will provide a plenty strong forum to develop and showcase their talents— for a lot of kids. Most area ECNL teams most years aren’t great, and when one is for kids who aren’t one of the top few players at u12-14 playing on a team where they’ll play a bigger role may help them develop into a better player than they otherwise would be at u15-18. Few coaches are a perfect fit for every kid. Convenience and proximity are bigger factors for some families than others.
