Originally posted by Unregistered View PostJesuit, Moutainside, and West Salem would easily beat Thorns U19s
Are you trolls really that shameless, or are you starting to believe your own lies? U19 Thorns are a solid squad, and competitive within their age group in GDA. They would flatten any HS team in the state, including Jesuit, and probably would beat any of the club teams this year. Of course, they are a U19 team that includes women pursuing a professional career, where most (if not all) of the 01 club teams are mainly composed of HS seniors born after the September cutoff (and 02 teams would be at an age disadvantage), so a straight on-age comparison is a bit difficult.
But if you've convinced yourself that GDA is a rec-level league across the board, I could see how you might think that a random high school team that has a few skilled club players would be competitive in such a match-up.
If that makes you sleep better at night...

That's how JS wins boots the ball and relies on there "best forward" to out run the defense line. JS is a awesome team no doubt that !!!! But really watch them play they boot the ball down field and relay on that forward to score !! When they get ahead they play her in mid for a break. Yes this wins games!! But technically every team is as good as JS skill wise other teams choose to play the passing game...
MS didn't come out defensively and I think they played just as well. 25 mins solely on JS half taking shots after shots and was just unlucky. Great game and I see this match up for the FINALS best game this YEAR .....

Certainly no favorites to win the GDA championship, and probably quite a few top ECNL teams nationwide can beat them as well. But almost certainly able to dispose of a high-school team, even one stocked with club players like Jesuit.
U16 and U17 teams for Thorns are weak, neither having won a game (and the U16s have suffered nothing but losses). But the U19s are a solid squad.

ECNL is a league brand name for a girls club league housed within the kiddo org called US Club Soccer, a sister or mirror of the nationwide USYS org.
Many local club teams across the country that aren't in the DA can be competitive with DA level teams. But it's worth mentioning Oregon doesn't have any of those type of local clubs or teams who would be relevant in the elite DA platform.
So of course they opt for USYS or US Club offerings for 'club' play, it's not like the DA is inviting them to move up a level from US Club (ecnl) or USYS and join the nation's elite. If they were relevant they would be invited to join the DA, they are not.
US Club and USYS sanctioned play is the perfect fit for the Oregon local clubs.
The DA is a bridge too far for Oregonians, see the modern day Thorns DA results or reach back to the local clubs CU & FC teams of the past that were part of the pre D US Club 'ECNL' they set records that will never be broken for losses and margin of defeats.
The DA coming online for girls left a perfect space for lower tiered club play with US Club Soccer and the USYS. Now if you like to travel and play teams just like your neighborhood clubs US Club league is a great choice.
Please don't judge us if we chose to travel and play outside the area because we can simply afford the ridiculous cost of travel. It's our money, honey.
