The OPL was started by a group of initially well intention-ed club DOC's, they gutted the OYSA of nearly all their member clubs and put the (OYSA) operation on the brink of extinction.

Then with OYSA at death's doorstep, Gavin re-branded a bunch of former OYSA now OPL clubs 'Timbers' Alliance, he asked them to move back to the OYSA and they did.

Then can the masterstroke, he moved the soon to be unemployed MS & EL over to Peregrine and kept them running OYSA's ODP/RTC/Cups & Leagues and to sweeten his deal he threw in the Timbers Kiddie camps ,ostensibly becoming a shell corporation running from Providence Park.

    Guess what, It worked!!

OPL crumbled and a few clubs hung in for a few more years, during those horrific final years they had no choice but to wave the white flag to Gavin and rejoin the OYSA, but as a parting gift two of the clubs couldn't stomach the move back to OYSA and instead joined the US Club girls league, despite having a talent pool of girls that would be better suited in Div 2 of the OYSA. US Club Soccer devastated with the collapse of the OPL (another US Club league), gladly accepted their cash even with their lack of player & coaching quality. (US Club Con at it's best)

Fast forward another year or so and US Soccer rejects THUSC (CU) application to the DA and instead awards a DA to the NWSL Thorns for Oregon. Thorns DA is born (present day).

Gavin/Peregrine let the clubs divide themselves and he pulled off the coup of century with the ability to become the defacto OYSA.

While the (2) most butt sore clubs instead took revenge on the innocent clueless parents and had them fund travel across the country, for s#hits and giggles.

    It's awesome, really.
Nice story. Mostly fiction but a good story all the same.

Way too sensitive my friend.
At the end of the day it is fact that the Timbers Alliance clubs, save maybe WashT, and the Thornz Asylum have only gone downhill since the Peregrine takeover. Once proud clubs are now vying for OYSA Div 2 and President's Cup scraps.

Their achievements don’t collect any dust, as each year passes with no improvement, they simply cast an even larger shadow/shade over the efforts of the mercenirial bums who litter the youth landscape of Oregon.

This lot aren’t even strong enough to stand on their shoulders.

Truth, stranger than fiction. Look forward to the next installment of Oregon Youth Soccer History, revealed.

I know which parts of your story are true (very few) and which parts are complete Lemming fabrication (most). But then I don't expect much from the lowbrow Lemmings and Cavemen that kneel down in front of their Peregrine overlords.

Debatable about the groups intentions but I'll buy it. 100% spot on about killing OYSA.

Then with OYSA at death's doorstep, Gavin re-branded a bunch of former OYSA now OPL clubs 'Timbers' Alliance, he asked them to move back to the OYSA and they did.
                100% accurate.

Then came the masterstroke, he (GW) moved the soon to be unemployed MS & EL over to Peregrine and kept them running OYSA's ODP/RTC/Cups & Leagues and to sweeten his deal he threw in the Timbers Kiddie camp, ostensibly becoming a shell corporation running from Providence Park. Spot on. Little twist about structure, but it's on the mark.

This is the part that makes the OPL dead wood cringe. Yes, they (the clubs) went back to OYSA. Yes (2) clubs sent their girls to a US Club League outside of Oregon, to this day it's pure speculation why they registered for a league so far out of their reach, but they did. Difficult to establish what kind of talent pool they each had at that time for girls, but it wasn't anything to write home about.

Fast forward another year or so and US Soccer rejects THUSC (CU) application to the DA and instead awards a DA to the NWSL Thorns for Oregon. Thorns DA is born (present day).
Tom A. did send US Soccer an application for THUSC (CU) it was rejected. NWSL Thorns got the designation as Oregon's only DA program, undisputed.

Gavin/Peregrine let the clubs divide themselves and he pulled off the coup of century with the ability to become the defacto OYSA.
As we live and breath today, this is true.

Definitely an opinion, that hits these clubs right between the eyes. Without a body of work or coaches to justify this choice, only opinions can be offered.

In four years, thorns have been as disappointment.

Worth noting it’s been 23 days since tryouts concluded and no rosters published. I talked to a returning thorns parent yesterday. They are concerned with the quality of the returning players and what they’ve seen roster wise appears to be a work in progress. In spite of that they are staying because their kid is a star/full game player, and it’s too late to consider ECNL given those rosters are full. But yes, returning parents are concerned. Also expressed lots of disappointment over the fee increase. Estimates new fee structure will cost them 5-6k this year including travel. They can afford it and really don’t need free or almost free soccer. But once you had a year of soccer including travel for 2k, it’s hard to think about it almost tripling in a year.

Doubt the cost will be 5-6k. Its estimated that player expenses for travel will be about 4k Maybe that set of parents chooses to travel to see games so they included their estimated travel expenses as well.
Even at 4k, thats less than ECNL and some OYSA travel teams.
Where is it written that any club has to publish their team rosters? If you are so curious you can check the US Soccer club site where all DA rosters are available. However, next season does not start until September...

This chapter is not complete, how long will it drag out? Heard rumor GW has a 10 year grip on running the OYSA functions and no local clubs will ever be considered as DA worthy under this regime.

Why lie? Why so obsessed? They have a full roster. Your cost forecasts are wrong. ECNL admins are so sad.

The quality of teams / players for next season has improved vastly. Especially, at the younger age groups. 2002/2003 age group will be more competitive and the oldest age group will do just as well as this past season.

The cost for next season will be under $4k
