Put down the crack pipe. No GDA teams have even been formed yet.

Thornz and ECNL all have "top" players, some teams/age group have more talent than others while others do not. Soccer has always been that way.

Lets all play nice in the sandbox. I know that the current soccer landscape is difficult to navigate and is confusing and can be scary at times but the cheap shots are unproductive.

I didn't say anything about the GDA team.

I was responding to another comment about the Thorns top 14.

Thanks for sharing that no GDA teams have been formed yet.

Agreed! I personally know all the talent from both ECNL teams and Thorns and most of them are very talented. I'll say that the midfielders and forwards from the ECNL teams are stronger than the forwards and midfielders on the Thorns team but the defenders on the Thorns are equally strong to the defenders on the ECNL teams. Good players all around. The "nice" factor though,if you compare the teams ,is debatable; I won't even venture to make an opinion on this one.

My daughter plays ECNL, she is an 03 and yes a starter. Already pressure from our coach for girls to verbally commit to next year. That being said many were very interested in GDA until RH was unable to coach. Families are now waiting to hear who the 03 coach will be. Our experience has been decent but not quite what we expected. We did tournaments in addition to our regular season which we are still in and yes it's been quite expensive. If they cut out the non-ECNL showcases it would be more manageable but Club feels exposure at tournaments like Surf are worth it and necessary.

ECNL teams should not be playing any out of state tournaments unless you are in the top bracket @ Surf or equivalent and can be competitive. Otherwise you are just draining more money out of the parents pockets w/o a real return.

More than enough opportunity to play up during the summer or also scrimmage a younger boys team.

We were not in top bracket, could not compete, yes it was a financial drain in hindsight.

I'm curious. How are the parents who have benchwarmer girls feeling about tryouts? Do you think their girls had equal opportunity to prove themselves? How do they feel about paying for travel trips and playing only a few minutes a game? Will they try out for ECNL again? If your daughter was not a starter, would you do ECNL again?

Same question for Thorns Academy players with the knowledge of FIFA substitution rules so only 14 can play next year?

Be very careful and cautious about your new 03 coach on ECNL. Not too many families have experienced his behavior. He has a massive ego, berates kids, and is a narcissist. He will pick on certain kids and the players watch quietly, surprised that an adult would act this way. While he might have credentials as it pertains to playing history, he shouldn't be coaching youth. He is in it for the wins, not for player development at all. He is an opportunist. Now, you might hear he is a great guy and the families that will say this have kids that he favors, but observe how he treats others. If you have any humanity, you will know that the way he treats the "other" kids is undeniably wrong. The favored kids know it too, but they turn the other way because they are so desperate to keep their standing.

At which club? Current 03 coach or 17/18 03 coach?

17/18 03 coach. I won't specify which club but there is only one ECNL male coach for 17/18 03's for the next year. I just want to save some families some misery. Do the research, ask around, and make sure your kid will be #1-#14 player. When you ask around, don't just ask the parents of the "starter" kids unless you know for sure that your kid will be a starter. This guy has no qualms about benching players for an entire game nor does he think twice when he insults or berates them. Just beware.

Both are male. KL at CU and GS at FCP.

FCP 03 ECNL head coach is Kassie McCluskie. Definitely not male.
